Thats a good point on the regen, but I was under the impression that the regen wasnt so much to increase battery life as it was to simulate engine braking.

That 9V battery is an Energizer lithium, Im not sure if it matters if replacement is lithium or not, but for longevity it probably does.

Mine suffered a battery failure at 6 hours and was replaced.

Also the chain and sprockets are normal wear parts on both bikes, so take that out of the equasion. Then theres the cost of the generator, and minor maintenance of it too. Sorry but from my standpoint the Alta doesnt make sense financially, however not everything is about money. The fun factor...

Resale value should be a part of your calculations, but with the Alta theyre not really known. Some sort of significant battery breakthrough could kill existing Altas value in minutes. However a 5 year old 250F doesnt carry much value neither.

When I swapped all of mine out, the only issue I had was the black plastic piece in front of the seat with the charging port. I spun one of the inserts, not the bikes fault though.

Sounds like a product that theres certainly a demand for, but I dont think youll ever get Altas blessing to sell it without them getting a cut. And rightfully so, afterall they are in business to make money.
