Exactly. It does shut off automatically after 15 minutes, so connected the bike to Multitool. It keeps the bike active. Once the bike started to respond, bursts of power helped lower the voltage quicker.

Update - the bike won't run when the battery is 100% charged. when the SOC decreases a bit (to 95-98%), the bike starts responding to throttle inputs until everything is back to normal. that explains why when charging to 100% the bike is not responsive, but when I cut the charge process before...

We haven't heard much about A packs conversions to R packs. Based on what Rashid wrote, it is quite an ordeal (only replacing the harness is a pain, not to mention the rest). I am also curious as to what exactly was done to this bike...

My friend's Zero FX also have the DC to DC acting up (2 of them). Interesting that this part is such a troublemaker.

That's interesting. So, it's a 5-7 amp draw system. More than I thought. It means carrying one hell of an external pack. And Rashid's warning about frying the ACM, pretty much sums it up. Rashid, these DC to DC BCU failures are more common in the R or A packs? Why do they fail so often?

I fully agree with the last paragraph 🙂 RC lipo packs are able to provide very high currents. It may be too much.

Aren't 4s lipos too high voltage? Also, these packs providing (too) high amperage.

I always turn the key off and had the exact same problem. BCU was replaced. Not convinced that the key position is the cause.

Had the same thing not long ago with my 2018 EX. Left the bike for few days with the charger still attached. I did turn the key off when the charge process started (I always do that). Long story short, replaced the BCU top cover, and bike is back to normal. Rashid was extremely helpful as always!

I am also surprised that I don't own one :) They are not being sold in Israel yet. However, I see a EM Escape in my future ( and also in yours, Philip).
