These are all heavy adventure-based bikes. They have almost nothing in common with motocross and supermoto bikes. They never jump. Any motocross or supermoto bike from 125 to 500cc has at least 12" of travel.

Awesome! It was unlikely the AMA was going to start this, so I am very happy to hear that the FIM is doing this. It is important to do this early, before the green people shut down all good MX tracks in the world. After that, it would be too late, even if all the bikes are silent and electric.

The travel should be the same. Why would a supermoto suspension have a reduced travel? Also, why is this so important to you, what are you planning?

I think there has been more than one reason for a single shock with a linkage system. Engineers kept moving the shocks forward on the swing arm to increase the suspension travel. They probably tried longer and skinny dampers too, but noticed that larger and slower-moving dampers were more...

The MX is not well-suited for motocross in summer temperatures. My approach was to sell it and buy an MXR. @Mark911's approach was to build a new bike. If I had to keep the MX, I would probably install a water mist sprayer onto the bike and keep it spraying onto the battery while riding/racing...

Crap. I am all for innovative approaches, even if it means going back in time. But the suspension performance on a motocross bike is like 80-90% of the game. We already had motorcycles with 50hp like 70-100 years ago, but they could not compete in supercross until the suspension technology...

I think once E-MX bikes with 60-70 hp start coming out, it will be game over. No 450 will be able to keep up with them anywhere on the track.

Did it really need radiator shrouds as wide as the handlebars?
