I love rhe terrain you ride on. Present a real sense of freedom. When I travel far from civilization, I try not to ride alone, in case of injury, malfunction... Aren't you worried about that?

The videos are not impressive. A proper dirt bike seems to be better for rough terrain. Also, the rider does not grab the vehicle like he does on a dirt bike with his legs, great potential to be thrown off. That said, I'll try to have a test ride. It may change my mind.

Israel is an enduro heaven in that regard. No private land. This is why enduro riding is such a popular activity here.

Philip, try installing the app "Waze". It is the original navigation app that google maps is based on (google bought Waze and use their algorithms). It may work better for you.

Great review Steve! The brass inserts on my EX also broke loose, and I had to improvise something. If it helps, than the Zero FX tended to break the rear fender altogether... 😁 I do have blisters after a hard day of riding but I do like the stock grips, I am not sure they are responsible for...

Starting a ride with a phone not fully charged, and using the gps app for 3 hours (including some videos and such), can result in a depleted battery, even on the small range of the Alta.

That's an Israely company, and I actually met them twice when I was riding my Alta (they made some field tests). It is an interesting product, haven't tested it though.

The KTM Freeride is a enduro / trial hybrid. It has suitable tires for it (Maxxis), lower seat and a lot of power in the lower RPM. My favorite electric is the Electric Motion Escape, thats a real trial enduro hybrid.

Strange that an electric bike do not have an electric 12V socket. Eventually Alta will need to come up with a solution. I do a lot of GPS navigating on my Redshift, and can highly recommend the android app - "advrider wd". It is an excellent navigation app developed by an Israely off road...

What is the easiest way of adding a 12V Socket on the Redshift? For gps devices, phones etc...

You are right about the EX's fork clunking when topping out. Is it something I should be worried about, or that is how these 4CS shocks work?

I use my EX for enduro riding only (technical enduro mostly). About 3 hours every saturday (I am a weekend warrior 😀). The Alta is great for that type of riding. If you're looking for long, adventure type riding, I suggest you look elsewhere.

I agree about Alta being cautious. however, one of the main reasons people are not thrilled about buying a Zero electric bike in my country is the total dependancy on the dealer. No one wants that

Wow, I guess it is not quite there yet for off roading. I ride quite hard with the stock assembly, and although it is not cosmetically beautiful, it works quite well.

Sometimes you'll find small metal particles in the first oil change. I'd replace the oil per the manufacture's instructors. It's quick and easy.
