The stock MX spring is actually 63N. I saw it written on the spring only later. The recommended oil height for MX is 65mm. Your 81mm is still very reasonable.

This is a bit too sexual and risque for most Americans. LOL!

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Yep. This pretty much sums it up. Compared to the existing off-the-shelf battery options the Tesla Powerwall and the Alta's spare battery pack look like screaming deals. The stock alternator is rated at 180A. When I was asking for 110A from it, it worked fine. When I started asking for 220A...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

I've had a 3000W 12-110V modified sine wave inverter in my van for the last 3 years. Yes, it can charge the Redshift from 110V from zero to full. But only if it is 110V. It made very little difference at the track though because you normally need 5 hours to charge at that rate. I even tried...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

This 800 Ah of batteries will weigh 500 lbs in AGM, or will cost $7,500 in LiFePO4. This is too heavy and bulky, or a bit less bulky but costs way too much money. The stock alternator is quite capable. It can run the van's engine and the Standard charger from 110VAC simultaneously...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Well... I am not planning to install a second alternator in my van at this time, and my current stock alternator is only 12V. The Battle Born battery company said I can use the stock alternator to charge their batteries if I install this LiFePO4 Battery Isolation Manager gadget: I appreciate...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Most of the time I will be using shore power (at home) and my 240VAV inverter/charger. But I want to be able to use the van's alternator as well. I might have to buy an additional controller for that. It is not too late for me to exchange my inverter/charger for a 48VDC system. But I wonder...

    EX Suspension

60/260 means 60 N/mm spring rate and 260mm length. Divide by 9.81 to get kg/mm. This unit conversion is simple, but everyone gets it wrong at times, including myself. The error is only 2%, so most people not not know they made a calculation error.

I remember that fork top-out clunk. It went away immediately after the revalve and never came back. I even forgot about it, until you brought it up, LOL. Regardless of what your stock front springs are, you can upgrade to the MX spring specs, and you should be much better when trail riding...

    Speed and Firmware

For the first five minutes -- yes. When you will be going 5-10mph over the limit and start seeing cars on your rear wheel, passing you on both sides, you will quickly realize that your speedometer is wrong. Then you will start adding 15-20mph to its reading, or whatever is necessary to not get...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

The non-O-ring chains are best left to road racers. For dirt, I do not think a non-O-ring chain offers any reduction in friction after it gets packed with sand.

Owner's Review 2019 Alta EXR Ride Review on MX track and EXR vs '19 300XC on a woods Loop: Silent Eagle!

There is also a problem with either the torsion spring shape or the location of the hole on the frame. I chose to bend the spring. @Mark911 drilled a new hole. Both methods reduce the rubbing of the spring against the pedal.

    Charging opportunity from RV hookups

I am setting up my van to charge from both 110V and 240V. I will have both types of plugs inside as well.

Alta in Europe - 2019? Never?

Hi Morten, I've heard a rumor somewhere that Alta wants to start selling the MXRs in Europe soon. How soon I do not know. The road legal bikes will take longer because of various homologation requirements, and may not happen at all without the ABS, but selling the off-road only version should...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

These batteries are promising a smaller size, weight, cost, and a longer life. They just do not have a built-in BMS (Battery Management System). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078JB836N/?tag=sce0f-20

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Some questions still remain: 1) Do I need the stock lead battery at all? Should I replace it with Lithium? -- Yes, it is needed for starting. LiFePO4 batteries are not designed for engine starting loads. 2) If I have to keep the stock lead battery, then do I need a "battery isolator"? --...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

    So... I had Recipe #1, then Recipe #2, and now I have one more recipe: RECIPE #3 1) Buy a 12 - 110/240V inverter+charger: 4000 Watt Pure Sine Inverter Charger - 12 Vdc to 120/240 Vac (DONE!) 2) Buy 3x 100 Ah Lithium batteries: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XX197GJ/?tag=sce0f-20 Total...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

The MX/MXR/EXR chains are 116-link chains and 12/53 sprockets. I think the EX also uses 116 links, even though it uses a 13-tooth front sprocket. You can also run 118-link chains with the stock sprockets. This will move the rear wheel 5/8" back. I'd also recommend a 118-link chain if you are...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

I have been buying Primary Drive chains from RMATVMC. They are well-priced X-ring chains. Very quiet and so far have lasted very well. The stock Alta's chain is junky, starts stretching after just 2-3 hours of riding and never stops. I replaced mine before it stretches too long and starts...
