I mean that defeats the purpose for people from Europe buying an SM specifically. I understand that it works in the US and is useful there ;). Still weird that it doesn’t work but was specifically mentioned in the firmware changelog.

That's a pity. So no charging at public charging points then. That defeats the purpose of the internal charger in my opinion. Or did you find a relatively small backpack-sized inverter?

I would guess spot welding to the top is really difficult, if not dangerous because of the change hitting the plus of the cell. If you can eject the cell, maybe you can spot weld a tin lip on the side of the cell? Then you can solder the fuse to this lip, which is probably easier. This only...
