Questions from a potential owner #2

Welcome to the Forum, rtf! The way it is going, we may have to create a special Decals and Graphics Kit category. For now use the Search function (the one with a magnifying glass icon): https://altaownersforum.com/search/18/?q=Decal+graphics EDIT: A new Graphics and Decals forum has been...

New Elite Motorsports Race Team Graphics!

I had no idea you had an Alta racing team at your dealership! That's pretty cool. Tell us more! Who is on the team, and where will you be racing this season? Will any of the this racing coverage be on TV or YouTube?

New Elite Motorsports Race Team Graphics!

Very nice! I like the huge ALTA logo on the front fender. Also, a great job trying to preserve the MXR original look with all these black hash marks.

Fasst Company rear brake return spring on an Alta

The original problem is that the stock pedal effort is too light. It is too light on all KTM Brembo rear brakes. I cannot not feel the pedal when I am wearing motocross boots. It is too difficult to modulate the rear brake, and too easy to lock up the rear wheel. The Fasst return spring is a...

    Decal Kits for the Alta

Welcome to the Forum, Corey! Hey, everybody, Corey @HudsonValleyMotorcycles is our another resident dealer that we have here in this Forum. He sold Alta Redshifts to at least two of the folks on this board, including myself! :ricky:

Fasst Company rear brake return spring on an Alta

Welcome to the forum, Alta_mxr! The idea behind this mod is to increase the effort required for the brake pedal that is too easy to press. Both springs are essentially doing the same thing. Replacing one spring with another would have added the adjustability of the effort, but could have...

    2018 Alta MXR Shock Re-Spring and Re-Valve

I do not want to start a measuring party tonight. I just remember that, compared to my Husky TC250 and my YZ450F, the Alta had the tops of their foot pegs 40mm lower. And the bottoms of the footpeg mounts were 60mm lower. In fact, the ground clearance was within a 1/4" of the rear fender...

    Ouch!

    Decal Kits for the Alta

Well, well, well... I got the "proofs" from Limited Decal. As I asked, they used the @HudsonValleyMotorcycles templates. Thank you, Corey! If I do not change anything, the look will be almost the same as on my 2017 MX. I like my 2017 MX look. I liked it as first sight, and still do. The 2018...

    2018 Alta MXR Shock Re-Spring and Re-Valve

The ground clearance is significantly lower, even if measured to the subframe. Just notice how far the wheels are off the ground on the Alta when it is on a center stand. This is why it feels so heavy when lifting it -- because you have to lift it higher than other bikes to get onto the same...

    2018 Alta MXR Shock Re-Spring and Re-Valve

A low ground clearance is something that Alta has not fixed with the MXR. I try to gas the bike before landing and never land on both wheels. Do not like jumping big jumps on this bike. A skid/glide plate may not help, the footpeg mounts dig in first. A new subframe with higher mounted footpegs...

Insurance and Titling in the US

I've never heard about insurance for dirt bikes. Michigan only worries about endangered birds and bugs. If a few hikers get run over every now and them -- no big deal, humans are not endangered.

    Demo models now available

IMO, most of the enduro guys are still on the fence, waiting for the riding range to increase.

    Few observations from today's ride

I prefer more regen braking as well, both trail riding and MX. On the MX Maps 1 and 2 have the most of regen braking, Maps 3 and 4 have the least. I think it is the same on the MXR.

    Demo models now available

Welcome, Ted! Alta themselves have demo days in NorCal as well. Not sure if just once a year or more often. I attended two, both at the Hollister Hills SVRA. Make sure to sign up on their website for a demo, and they will contact you, or your local dealer will.

MXR suspension for enduro style riding

I remember it is 6 lb, of which 3 lb comes from the fork and 3 lb from somewhere else on the bike, not sure where. Alta claims that the MXR has 20% of all-new parts.

MXR suspension for enduro style riding

That's what I initially thought as well -- the 4CS fork is the main weak spot that the MX has. That was until I started having tons of fun trail riding on the stock suspension. Alta valves their 4CS extremely well for off-road. The stock suspension was too soft for motocross though, but Alta...

Bad day for this poor race reporter...

LOL! Still funny, even if it was staged.
