Owner's Review I Finally got my Stark…Pros and Cons

I know, I was just teasing a bit. Can you try this? Set up map 1 at a power level where you are comfortable riding. Set up map 2 so that a twist of the throttle will loft the front end as desired. Perhaps 60, 70, or more HP. As you approach the obstacle switch to map 2 to enable you to loft...

Owner's Review I Finally got my Stark…Pros and Cons

You must be twisting the throttle wrong.

What's everyone doing with the Stark charger/stand?

I spent 30 years of my life in the USA so I have a bit of a feel for it even though I have been in Europe for about 20 years now. The cars I have bought here are Japanese, but I have "inherited" some European. You cannot buy a normal European point A to B car in the USA. You cannot even buy the...

What's everyone doing with the Stark charger/stand?

I was there... saw the whole damn thing... know who is responsible for what decision. If you want to point the finger of blame at anyone then Apple/Jobs is the main culprit.

Is there a list of Error Codes anywhere out there?

Water ingress can be both "acute" and "chronic" let's say. With acute being it won't work after being pressure washed, and chronic being it works but gradually degrades from corrosion. I would avoid pressure washing around critical areas even if you pack the connectors with grease. I wouldn't...

Is there a list of Error Codes anywhere out there?

OK, here goes... First a disclaimer. We a couple test bikes for development purposes. We don't regularly take them out, get them muddy, and wash them. So we have not had water ingress issues because we simply don't put them under that kind of stress. If we did expose them to "water ingress...

Is there a list of Error Codes anywhere out there?

The connectors are supposed to be IP67. If the connectors do not seal that is because of poor wire/cable choice (like improper outer diameter) or poor assembly. This weekend I will post a few photos of possible solutions/aids.

Is there a list of Error Codes anywhere out there?

I think some supplier in China but I'm not sure. We didn't ask. They didn't tell.

Is there a list of Error Codes anywhere out there?

Among a number of things we manufacture/assemble for the Varg, we used to assemble the map switch for a short while (a month or so). The map switch cable must be relatively thin to pass through the sealing grommet. This means that the individual wires inside the cable are quite thin. They are...

Stark weird noise and no crawl/ reverse... Drive train not reacting to throttle inputs

The phone should really have nothing to do with it. That round connector is very important as it connects the VCU to the inverter (motor controller). I don't think it is software -- it is behaving like you have a loose connection, bad wire crimp, or water in the system somewhere. Edit: the...

Stark weird noise and no crawl/ reverse... Drive train not reacting to throttle inputs

My first guess is water ingress -- just like you said -- it dried off given time and now works fine. Sealing is a Varg weak point. My second guess is a mechanical connection problem like a cold solder joint or poor wire crimp or connector. Here the temperature can make a difference where thermal...

Stark weird noise and no crawl/ reverse... Drive train not reacting to throttle inputs

If not mechanically binding when turning by hand... then most likely problem with rotor position sensor (motor rotor) itself of with communication between the inverter and sensor. Or sensor magnet has become loose.

    General Poll, response appreciated

The idea is to play engine revving sound is only when accelerating the virtual engine -- clutch pulled in and throttle opened. During all other times there would be silence from BlueTooth audio. Personally I can't stand earbuds and would just go with in helmet speakers. However, a bike mounted...

    General Poll, response appreciated

OK, no where near traction control yet (perhaps better called traction management) but here is what has already been done or very close to being done: 1) A second map switch has been added on the right side of the bars sitting between the brake lever and throttle. It is wired into existing VCU...

    General Poll, response appreciated

OK, it has been decided. The project is now on. I would like to thank the people here for talking with me and helping guide me towards a decision. The conclusions are basically these two: 1) The more powerful the bike the better for making the algorithms as good as we can. 2) Once we are happy...

    2023 Honda CRF250R with QS138 70H V3 Motor and EM260S Controller

There was a guy with a very long Molicel P45B, P50B comparison on youtube. In short, the 50 is only a very slight improvement over the 45. In the real world the gains are not nearly what the data sheet reflects. The difference in the 42A and 45B was night and day. Going to the 45B made the Varg...

Austin Forkner talks about Stark Varg

After much playing with throttle "curves" I really don't believe in them. If you make one section of rotation less sensitive, the other becomes more sensitive. So you have made it better for one case, and worse for another. With ICE you can regulate how sensitive the throttle is by gear...
