What's everyone doing with the Stark charger/stand?

I extracted my charger from the stand before I ever even road the bike. It was (to me anyway) just too heavy and cumbersome to A.) cart around to riding areas, and B.) too tall and awkward to use for home storage. It seemed like such an impressive and amazing feature when I was researching the bike, and it's a beautiful piece of industrial design and manufacturing, but now that I have it I don't have that same appreciation and I don't even know what to do with it 😕

It's a small table with some stuff piled up on top of it that would be on the floor if I didn't have the stand.
Not the best use of it, so let's see if anyone has any good ideas for it.

I use mine as a charging interface for my EcoFlow. It sits on its side most of the time since the cable is not really long enough to work properly. My old Yamaha stand for my WR450f works great with the Stark for a real working stand.

The Stark stand is a classic Euro (mis)design piece and would likely never be a part with an Asian or even American product. It truly serves no purpose as it is, and is mostly a kind of Euro over design fetish. This is extremely common BTW in European stuff --my KTMs and other European stuff has been notorious for design like this. It is why European shit leaks oil, has costly service, and their electronics suck ask anyone who has owned a Euro car. Ya and a guy with a British accent advertising it in the US is still full of shit...

Overall the Stark is the best piece of European stuff I have ever purchased and even at that it has its Euro weirdness like the bike stand or the half-assed kick stand. But so far the Stark is better than most other Euro stuff I have owned at least.

I was there... saw the whole damn thing... know who is responsible for what decision. If you want to point the finger of blame at anyone then Apple/Jobs is the main culprit.

As a stand to charge the bike at home, I find it very good: when you want to charge, the charger is already down there and it's a stable stand. What I mean by this is the common old definition of stable: if you push the bike too much in one direction, it will tend to go back to center:
unstable and stable.jpg
If you push the bike too much towards the front, the front wheel will be higher because of the shape of the black rubber part on top of the stand, sending some weight back; if the bike is positioned too much back, the front wheel will be lower and the weight will go towards the front.
I dislike the fact that it's not practical for the track, though.

If you have removed the charger from the steel case, I think that the stand should be sturdy enough to withstand the weight of the bike and can still be used at home; you can store something that you use often in that case, like a can of chain degreaser. If you have removed the steel case from the stand, you can install something sturdy in its stead to prevent the stand from collapsing.

I use mine at home and take it to the venues for now. I'm working on removing the charger and getting into a plastic case as a lot of people have done. Then I will consider modifying the stock stand for home use only and have a lift for taking with me or a plastic one... Agree with Theo it is a sturdy stand just a bit to tall and to heavy for carrying around

🙂Well at least the iPhone doesn't leak oil out of every orifice like a German car...:) We have Yuppies here in the US who buy Range Rover/Jags for the prestige --who, instead of working from home, now they work from the repair shop. :lurker:

And the owners of Bosch dishwashers are amazed it is so quiet you don't know that it is running... Because its not... KTM well errrr Bankruptcy R Us ...:ricky:

I spent 30 years of my life in the USA so I have a bit of a feel for it even though I have been in Europe for about 20 years now.

The cars I have bought here are Japanese, but I have "inherited" some European. You cannot buy a normal European point A to B car in the USA. You cannot even buy the same Japanese car in the USA and Europe. Case in point, my first bought car here in Europe was a Suzuki SX4 with the biggest engine i could get -- 1.6L. Smallest engine for the same car in the USA is 2.0L (with automatic transmission) IIRC.

If you take a random old point A to B car here chances are pretty good it is something like a VW group vehicle with 1.9TDI and manual gearbox. Those things are dead reliable (I had one) and will go forever. Mine was a Skoda that stopped driving only because it was totaled. Of VW group vehicles VWs themselves are the least reliable -- brands like Skoda generally "lag" behind a year or two with new engines and components so are less bleeding edge.

Fancy euro cars with lots of bells and whistles are terrible. I stay far away from BMW. Range Rovers have a really bad reliability reputation.

In the states I spent a good amount of time working on my parents cars which were a mix of Ford and Chevy. In my mind the list from worst to best goes like this.

1. Fancy Euro stuff with lots of electronics and bells and whistles.
2. General commuter USA stuff.
3. General commuter Euro stuff (manual gearbox) -- stuff you cannot buy in the USA.
4 Japanese.

Edit: sorry for off topic but I couldn't resist

Really Chaconne? That's what you say? Well, you won't get away with it: since you have written this and because of the fact that you are very suitable for the role, I will make you the protagonist of a joke. Take it with some irony and I bet you, too, will enjoy it :).
This should end in laughter, not in irritation.

Here we go:
Chaconne has recently purchased a brand new sportscar (American made, I guess :)) and he has just completed the break in procedure, so he now wants to see how fast it really is. He brings it to a highway and floors the throttle, but he realizes that a police car is chasing him. He thinks Hell, I bet I can outrun him and doesn't slow down. Unfortunately for him, he's underestimated that police car since a minute later it's right behind him and at this point the only thing he can do is to pull over. Then the following conversation happens:
Officer: Well, I want to be honest with you, it's Christmas time, it's the end of my shift and I just want to go home and drink a beer. You know what? I feel gracious, so if you can think of a decent excuse for which you were trying to outrun me, I will turn a blind eye.
Chaconne then thinks for some seconds.
Chaconne: You see, officer, my ex wife's car is the same colour as yours, so I thought that she was chasing me.
Officer: You are free to go, sir, have a nice day.

I always say I'm too busy to service gas dirtbikes and then I find the time to write this shit :LOL:

Enjoys your rides, guys!

His excuse in the version of that joke that I heard was:
My wife left me a few years ago for a policeman.
I thought you were trying to return her to me.

American made sports car?? That is funny. The only thing we can make are pickup trucks and even half of those suck and cost $100k. We have failed miserably at cars...

And sports cars Hahaha nada. Even our Polaris OHVs are not really made here.

I would have been in a Porsche and the officer's American made cruiser which can only go in a straight line would have crashed being unable to steer through the oil slick the Porsche leaked out... :ricky:

Not to go to much off topic here, but the new corvette is supposed to be a really good sport car and well balanced... Mid engine!?

I must say that as random and my subject was when I started this thread, I never thought it would end up as random as all of this.

How does everyone feel about blindfolded fly fishing, in the nude 🤪
Last time I went fishing was on Lake Ery in Canada, ended up in an orange suit trowing my guts out and waiting for another boat to come and tow us to the shore as both engines died on us and a storm was incoming with waves as high as 2m... For me that was not a lake... 😂😂... So I'm not going fishing again
