fyi...chains don't actually stretch, sprockets wear and the lubricant between the link pins shift but the metal does not actually stretch. chains do get longer due to the link pins moving rearward in their cavities as the grease displaces and the link pin can also wear and bend slightly.

I use clear spray paint, except for on the alta last time I used grip glue, had the same problem you did. back to clear spray paint from now on. ps. I may try the contact cleaner. pss. I only used grip glue on the alta because I tore 2 right grips trying to mount them. I like these wonky old...

not used to snow riding on two wheels and only had the alta off-road for about 10 minutes, I guess I'm saying that I'm a puss, but I'm a puss with a quad, more fun in the snow!!

thank you silent but dirty for posting alta replacement parts list, thanks to you I now know that the sm runs a 4 piston front brake caliper and the mx doesn't . now if anyone knows if the mx front brake caliper will mount up to the Sm's caliper mount maybe I can get the necessary clearance...

good news, just grip glue between throttle tube and handlebar, all fixed.

thanks redwolf, I went with the IRC 460/100/17 for the front and the IRC 510/100/17 for the rear. I'll post pictures when done.

thanks everyone, like a jerk I approached my alta as if it were a (normal) motorcycle and loosened the wrong screw and now I cannot retighten it. the throttle housing screws (2) are of a type that apparently should not be removed but an idiot(me) will find a way, and I did! ordering new throttle...

I think I may have tweaked my throttle tube installing new grips, throttle doesn't want to return but housing returns freely when loosened. can anyone tell me which of the 3 different alta throttles from liquid I need for my sm(I hate buying wrong parts). also what's up with the throttle housing...
