Factory developed Redshift MX suspension shim stack specs (UPDATED)

I realized that not many people have read my long Re-springing a 2017 Alta Redshift MX (and then revalving too) thread. In case you missed it, Alta's factory MX team has developed updated suspension specs for the MX model. They shared it with me, and they said it was okay to share it with other...

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

Only torque (at the rear wheel, to be technically correct) changes with different gearing. The HP does not change with gearing. Power = Torque * Speed. The torque goes down, the speed goes up, the HP stays the same. What changes is the speed where that max HP occurs.

    Hare Scramble

Yes, we definitely need a bigger map indicator on the display. I can't really slow down and lean in during the race to read it. That one digit is too small. It should be at least as big as the speedometer. BIGGER than the speedometer on the MX and MXR models, who needs a speedometer on these anyway.

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

In motocross, at my local tracks, I never exceed 45mph. So...with a 14-tooth front sprocket... In Map 4, I would get the acceleration of the stock Map 3 at low speeds and the acceleration of the stock Map 4 at high speeds. In Map 3, I would get the acceleration of the stock Map 2 at low...

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

Well... I was too impatient to wait for the dyno data, so I digitized the MXR Dyno pictures. I wanted to see what a 14-tooth front sprocket would do to these curves. Here you go: ____ Power MXR Map 4 ____ Power MXR Map 3 ____ Power MXR Map 2 ____ Power MXR Map 1 - - - Power MXR Map 4...

I think this number "09" indicates the diameter. This is @snydes Alta kit.

    The Alta Factory LHRB

I too would be interested to know if Alta uses the stock Brembo clutch lever. But regardless, I am now tempted to reproduce what Mark911 has done -- install a bigger slave cylinder.

    2018 Alta MXR Shock Re-Spring and Re-Valve

Kreft Moto makes awesome stuff. Their products new and original, they do their own development both at the track and on a dyno. They do not have their own shim stack specs for the MX yet, and are unlikely to have them soon. They can put in the factory recommended shim stack specs though...

    The Alta Factory LHRB

The Rekluse LHRB is all hydraulic. It pressurizes the stock rear master cylinder from the top. You remove the stock rear master cylinder cap, carefully place an O-ring in there, then screw in this black insert. Then attach a hydraulic line to the top of it. The mechanical one the the cable...

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

Why not? I routinely cover 20 miles (32km) at a motocross track and 40 miles (64km) off-road. Alta could squeeze out a few more miles out of the battery If they really want to. I think it would last the 35km of the Rodeo, if the wheelspin is kept to a minimum.

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

Also, another conclusion is that if you are not going to ride your MXR in Map 4, then you could save a lot of money by buying my slightly used MX. ;)

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

Sounds like Alta is really serious this time about finishing the race, and perhaps even showing a good result... or maybe even winning. They obviously do not want to raise the expectations too high, but such statements are telling me that they are definitely not joking around.
