OX Brake is our official Forum's Sponsor!

Greetings and salutations, Electric Dirt Riders! I am proud to announce OX Brake as our official Forum's Sponsor! Jason @TheLHRBguy is the owner of OX Brake. He is a self-described "recovering lawyer", a dirt bike nut, and a huge fan of the LHRB technology. He is excited about the application...

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

Judging by the punchy throttle response, the bike above does not have the same "traction control" as the Alta has. Play-riding some DIY electric bikes scares me regardless of how much/little power they have because of the unpredictable power delivery. Drifting and power sliding the Alta is a lot...

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

This video is epic!!! @Matt, @OneLapper -- If yoiu are going to do this again, sign me up! Riding the Alta in the mud for 24 hours was some of the best time I have ever had on any bike! Here is my hill climb video from the 2019 NE 24-hour Challenge...

    New Forum Name

Yep. Alta Owners Forum is now Electric Dirt Riders. The URL electricdirtriders.com is a bit long to type, so I also set up a shorter EDRforum.com. It is still propagating and should start working soon.

    Battery construction 5,8kwh 72V

Cool project. We have a lot of DIY guys here who do electric conversions and build their own batteries, some with cooling. @Mark911 @DonCox

Stark Varg foot or hand brake?

It is nice to see aftermarket support on our Forum again. Welcome, @TheLHRBguy!

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

I would say the Alta feels like a 125cc in tight turns.

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

Slippery, muddy, and inconsistent traction situations is where Alta shines the most. Altas have dominated ice races and muddy supermoto competitions. I climbed loose gravel hills that I was even afraid to look at, or attempt on my 2-stroke Husky with a Rekluse. I had a lot of fun in all muddy...

New ALTA Alternative -Stark VARG - From Europe

It appears that Alta negotiated as much as they could to pay as little as they could up front. When they went under, many of the suppliers were left with huge accounts receivable. This made it extremely difficult to whoever wanted to buy the company to actually restart the operations. They would...

New ALTA Alternative -Stark VARG - From Europe

Fsfs, you appear to have some inside knowledge of the engineering being the Varg. Are you somehow connected to the company? I am also curious what else you could tell us.

Does anybody know how to reset code 37

I think it would be a good idea to remove the bottom cover, check the bladder for integrity, and replace the desiccant pack. Then you can clear the error code with a Multitool computer. https://altaownersforum.com/threads/code-37.2333/

Does anybody know how to reset code 37

It sounds like this code is not a fluke. It's probably a better idea to fix the moisture problem first before resetting the code. Else you might soon have to look for a new battery.

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

I do not think it is an important question. Folks like 125cc bikes and folks like 500cc bikes. On the former, you pin and hold on and it does all its own traction control. On the latter, you feed the throttle gently and hope it doesn't kill you. It is fun either way. I am sure being able to pin...

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

Lyndon had some heavier flywheels for sale, but nobody knows who bought them. A heavier flywheel reportedly saves a few seconds per lap at Glen Helen. I also think it is a must in the sand.

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

I noticed that, compared to the Alta, the 450's have a lot less wheelspin, and they throw a lot less roost. The wheelspin and the roost are all wasted energy. The 450's have very heavy flywheels. Their engines have to accelerate those flywheels. The flywheels reduce the wheelspin, but they...
