Fasst Company rear brake return spring on an Alta

When I first test-rode the Redshift, I immediately noticed that the rear brake was too grabby. My Husky TC250 rear brake is the same way too, but on the Alta you have no flywheel! The solution that I found is to install the Fasst Company rear brake return spring...

    Brake Mod and Foot Pegs

Welcome to the forum, Silent! That's a pretty grippy looking rear brake pedal tip. Thank you for sharing. Good to know that there is an easy fix for those short and slippery stock tip pins. I think my Tusk foot pegs are using the same pins. I posted a picture here...

Tusk foot pegs on an Alta

Got these Tusk YZ250/450F foot pegs installed. They are working very well. Feet stay put and do not slide anymore. I'm more confident when standing up too. I have race tested them already, they work great. The installation was not very smooth though. Tusk left too much aluminum near the return...

    Metallica fans?

I also recently thought about how suitable the name "lightning" is to Alta. It is both fast and electric.

    240V Gasoline Generators

I've pulled the trigger on Generator #2 -- DuroMax XP4400E The wheel kit is a must. The electric start is cool. I would not want to pull the cord every time I want to turn it on (which will likely be several times a day). There are also generators with remote wireless starters, but none of them...

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

It's official! I have led half of the race and also had the fastest lap time! Woo-hoo! The race started at a ridiculous 8am. I am not a morning person, I never liked sand, and I haven't raced in 3 years. I am crediting all the great results to the bike. Go Redshift...

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

This photo cost me $25. This is what they charge for trackside photos these days.

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

Upon reviewing the videos... The sight lap was 7 minutes long. I pulled over after just 27 minutes of racing. A total of 34 minutes on the track in deep sand. The last 1/8 of the battery was blinking when I pulled over. And, YES! I was leading the race after 3:10 minutes! I've led a half of...

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

No thermal warning light. I was in Map 2 all throughout the race. Same power as in higher maps but delivered more smoothly, efficiently in the sand. Plus I really like the engine braking in Map 2. I've seen a thermal warning light only once, and that was on a hardpack track in Map 4.

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

This track had a lot of deep sand. Power sliding in sand is awesome on the Alta, but it is hard on the battery. The track was very long too, I had only 7/8 of the battery left after a 7-minute sight lap. So, on this track I pulled over after just 27 minutes of racing. That is 34 minutes of run...

Going racing on my Alta Redshift MX!

A quick update: I just finished racing. Was going in the top 3, maybe even 1st, in my usual here in the southwest 40+ C class. As expected, the battery died after half of the race. Oh well, I ran out of steam myself a few minutes earlier. But I think I would have been able to relax and finish...

    Alta's use of rapid prototyping

Carbon printed prototype parts. Very cool. I've heard Lamborghini stamps carbon production parts, making them quickly and cheaply.

Battery Technology and Best practice battery care

From what I heard, incomplete discharges aren't bad, but incomplete top-offs could be. Like when adding some charge between the motos. We have some resident battery technology experts here, perhaps they can pitch in. @Mark911

    240V Gasoline Generators

Both of these Home Depot generators are 120 only. False alarm, sorry. They still somehow came up under my 240V searches. It is probably safer to get stuff shipped from Alibaba than Home Depot. At least you know you will be getting 220-240V.

    240V Gasoline Generators

This is the one that I really want: EDIT: Honda 3000-Watt Super Quiet from Home Depot is also 120V only. No good.

    240V Gasoline Generators

I am shopping for a 240V generator. I want to charge the bike at the track between the motos quickly. Need something small, light, cheap, and quiet. Preferably with an electric start. Pick two, right? Did a quick Google search. There is a bunch of 220V generators on Alibaba and such, priced...

    Coolant leaked?

You are absolutely right, Steve, thanks! Nothing to worry about, I just l need to check the coolant level some time later. From the Alta Redshift owner's manual: COOLANT AND GEAR OIL 1. The Redshift relies on coolant to keep motor and controller temperatures in check and gear oil to lubricate...
