How many miles/hours do you have on your ALTA

Because the population of MXR Batteries with the Code 36 was not really pin pointed, hard to really say where it is at. The algorithm which exists for picking up the Code 36 is really sensitive. If your bike has been sitting and has not really gone through a charge discharge cycle, could be a...

    Top Fairing screws

No offense taken at all. I posed the question because I rarely hear or see of other plastics getting wrecked/destroyed. My Vstrom 650 uses button head fasteners with indicated torque values in service manual/VStrom forums. When I left Zero and went to Alta, the same thought was in my mind when...

    Gear Oil Level

100ml was the original quantity added to the bikes in production, that actually increased to 130ml. As long as your in that range that should be adequate.

    Gear Oil Level

In most cases, the oil rarely gets drained. I did my oil about 500 miles ago on my SM and it had never been changed and was similarly sludgy. If the oil level is clear and in the sight glass, there is no harm of running 120ml. Might be a tad less whiny but nothing damaging.

    Gear Oil Level

Had the oil been changed before? If it hadn't your probably gonna get some sludge/particulate which may affect the output. As long as you see oil in the midway point of the sight glass you should be fine. Usually the service also includes removing the gear cover w/gasket and that evacuates some...

    Top Fairing screws

If I recall, the Euro bolt hardware has some properties to help with corrosion...I could be off since that may have been specific for the fork bolts. I have ranted about the excessive usage of lockpatch (Loctite patch on the Alta hardware per Bossard specifications) and Anti-seize was never...

    Top Fairing screws

What boggles my mind is the number of owners/dealers/racers/users not understanding how to torque bolts. Why do the brass inserts strip? Y'all like to torque them way too much. The torque that is needed for the hardware to clamp down is 4Nm (35 in-lbs). That isnt that much with a human torque...

CODE 33 BUT NO ISSUES SHOWING

FYI this could be as simple as a code clear (HV Isolation could have been tripped on accident, and need to be cleared in MT). @Philip once everyone is available/together just let me know, ill figure out scheduling. Im a big fan of TeamViewer, works really well on older laptops and helps review...

Altas arrived yesterday night....now to the stupid questions

Yes. The display update was part of a final FW push that came out in the end of summer time when we were in existence. Honestly there is no real reason to push updates to the bike anymore since the updates past that were not publicly pushed.

CODE 33 BUT NO ISSUES SHOWING

Code 33 - Potential Isolation fault. Could be due to issues with the DCCP, or more likely the harness between the DCCP and the deltawing (black plastic w/key).

Altas arrived yesterday night....now to the stupid questions

Looks like the first bike was potentially updated. You need to push the first button on the left of the display to go from KPH to MPH. The subframe is a pretty sturdy piece...when grabbed correctly. Under the number plate and you grab specifically the subframe is the safest place to move the...

    Most Common Parts to Replace

@C5tor use this picture since the domino throttle is quite a bit vintage

    Most Common Parts to Replace

This is the throttle you need for the SM: THROTTLE, HALL EFFECT, HIRSCHMANN, 65 DEG, CONNECTORIZED 2102308-03 - These are meant for SM, they have a slightly longer throttle tube, but can be modified to fit the Alta variants that do not use the -04) We did not strip the screws (seriously!?)...

    MSDS

Since the battery commodity is contained already in a "safe unit" the main component you need is the SDS (no longer called MSDS technically). Also depends if they crate the bike or just ship on a pallet.

    Throttle Connector Pinout

There is a break out of the CAN_LO and CAN_HI which splits out PWR and GND. Soo... Pin (1) and Pin (4) (Silver row, with Pin 1 on top) are PWR. GND is Pin (2) and Pin (5) (on top of second row). Did you crush the JST housing?

    When is charging done??

You can charge overnight. The bike will recognize once its completed charging. Lots of your questions/info can be answered in the resources section: Resources I would highly recommend reading there.

is there hope on the horizon?

Alta never had any connection with Tesla. Other than some of the design/manufacturing/sales employees used to work at Tesla.

    Alta "Factory" Rider Dream

My apologies for tangenting in the thread, but I would like to reflect on this. Firmware access has been a big thing/liability. Thats baked deep in the laptops of the former software team. If everyone really wanted new firmware we would have to go to BRP in Canada (when we finally can) and...

    Failing clips

The throttle is ride by wire...ENG and QC tested this scenario, dont think this is possible.
