Yeah somehow the big brands see X specs sell for Y euro's. They see a good business case and developing for 5 years and come with bike X and put pricetag Y on it. However the market has moved on 5 years.
Livewire from Harley Davidson is the exact same

I rode the current gen Freeride E. It's a fun and approacheable experience. But it shouts play bike. The suspension, frame and everything is only so so... Play bikes sell for 6-9K not 13K. Who in his right mind will buy a Freeride for the same money as a 60hp Varg.

First Look: 2027 KTM Freeride E – It’s back. For Good?

KTM announce the 2027 Freeride E, an electric off-road motorcycle model revealed originally in 2024 but the Austrian manufacturer explains the delay means a much-improved bike with more technology and better battery life.

Back in 2024, KTM introduced its all new 2025 Freeride. But it hasn't been released yet.

Lo and behold, it is now 2026 and KTM introduces its all new 2027 Freeride!

2025 Freeride was supposed to be 25 hp, 5.5 kWh, 111 kg
2027 Freeride will be...drum roll... 25 hp, 5.5 kWh, 111 kg.

Color me impressed.

The 29 kg 5.5 kWh battery is "easily" removable in less than 10 min, wow.

Released 3 years later than the Varg, with 24% less capacity for the same battery weight.

660 W charger enabling full charge in only 8 h, I can barely contain my excitement.

Its only saving grace could be if it's very aggressively priced (not at 13 k€).

sadly i went to my local dealer and they told me its 12.999€ in Spain. For me a logic price fot that specs could be maybe 8.499€ and im being very kind

Overpriced, but the only high quality components dirt bike weighing 15 kg less than the Stark.
Hope the Dust moto and Bonnell prove otherwise.

Freeride might be 10 kg lighter than Varg EX. With 24% less capacity, and 50 hp less.

It's like comparing CRF300L with CRF450R, they can both be great bike but they serve a different purpose, and certainly shouldn't be at the same price.

New Freeride is being set up to fail, same as the old Freeride. Don't understand KTM reasoning here.
