I could be completely wrong, but if Alta et al. was truly done, some one sitting in the proverbial Captain's Chair would take the time to fire up a company laptop, sit down with a snifter of Thomas Tew rum, and pound out a explanation of what happened, explain why the ship when down, and what can be done now to salvage it.

The fact that that hasn't happened yet gives me hope they are trying to make it happen. At this point I hope I can at least get the replacement display that is still under warranty, if that even matters any more. I'd be happy to be able to buy that display at this point. See?! We still want and need parts, and some one has possession of the those parts, therefore money can still be made by selling off what they have in hand. If it was over, that would be happening.

Meanwhile, waiting for news is difficult

Awesome response and I agree their trying to work something out behind the scenes. I would have just liked a little better of a response towards owners and potential buyers.

Something just to save face until they are hopefully bought out by the big orange machine!

I can understand the powers to be being tight lipped about what is going on. Cannot say I blame them. Once the deal is done, one way or the other, I am hopeful that we, as current owners, will be one of the first to know.

If they did come on here & just give "us" an update, as a courtesy, It would be plastered all over the internet in minutes, much like my post was copied verbatim, and reposted over at Vital. I have learned my lesson.

Once something is posted, good or bad, true or false, trying to keep it contained is like trying to heard cats!

All the I's need dotted & the T's crossed before this cat is out of the bag.

I know they released a message about shutting down operations but that didn’t mention what current owner options are for service and parts in the immediate future.

I understand the bike can be maintained for years without Alta afloat but that doesn’t change the fact Alta just dipped out without providing at the very least a month of courtesy parts support and service.

Even if Alta is bought out in the next couple weeks it’s not a good way to do business in an industry where consumers are especially afraid to dip there toes in due to all the unknowns.

Most people out there just saw the headline “Alta shuts down”. Now you have 1000’s of potential customers thinking “wow, thank god I didn’t go down the electric route”.
I get what you are saying. And yah, potential customers are thinking they dodged a bullet with an Alta purchase. All I am saying is the bikes are great though, even if production and support are up in the air.

I'm a potential customer trying to take the bullet lol! I don't mind paying for parts either, I just want to know that they will actually be available before diving in. Hence why I'm on this forum and I don't even own the bike, that's how much I want one :)

I've tried contacting Alta directly, dealer can't get a hold of anyone either. My code 36 most likely means new battery but can't get a hold of anyone for warranty.
Even with this, I'm considering another MXR....just to have a second....but sitting on the fence about it.
Ugh..... waiting to hear either way sucks.

I understand your concern, when I bought mine, this situation was the worst case that I was afraid would happen. That said, I still have no regrets about my purchase, and would suggest if that's the bike you want, better get one quick in case there are no more.

For now maintenance will be up in the air. If for some reason Alta does fully implode people will work out homebrew fixes for the electronics aspect of the bike and everything mechanical can be bought outside of Alta beside the plastics I'd imagine.

I'm not sure what type of riding you're into but the Electric Motion bikes are sick as well. If I had to choose between the Alta and that bike(all the Alta issues aside) I'd pick up E-motion all day. Hands down funnest bike I've ever ridden! Sorry if this is off topic but seems relevant to anyone looking into the E-market.

So to your point about being able to have a homebrew fix, do you think that would apply to things like error codes that currently require a dealer? Broken LCD screens and throttle tubes? Those are my main concerns. I ride alot, maybe 150 motor hours per year. I love this bike, and the prices right now make for a good purchase. I'm just not confident that I can get an error code or break a throttle tube and be able to repair it.... not because of my lack of skill, I'm very handy, I rebuild all my gas bikes, but that doesn't help with an error code... I'm not great with electronics.

I don't think so but dealers have them. Although it's possible they are only "leased" and may need to be returned.
