How did I not hear about this electric van before??! 😮

Apparently, the MSRP was about $66K, and it used to be possible to get the $7,500 consumer EV tax credit along with an up to $40,000 incentive for buyers of commercial vehicles. Was it possible to get one for $19K??? Anyway, this ended on September 30, 2025. And now the BrightDrop is dead.

On the positive note, if you wanted a cheap electric motovan, soon there will be plenty of used ones on the market. Who wants one?

There are 400 ft^3 models and 600 ft^3 models. Some have long-range batteries. Here is the range summary for one of the BrightDrop long-range owners:
@ 46 mph - 440 miles
@ 60 mph - 330 miles
@ 68 mph - 270 miles
@ 80 mph - 190 miles

The BrightDrop features an available 240V outlet, part of the Offboard Power system, which can provide up to 7.2 kW of split-phase AC power for tools and jobsite equipment. This system also includes several 120V outlets and is designed to be used from the cargo area of the vehicle. Perfect for fast-charging two Starks/Altas or even supercharging 1 Stark at 6,600W!

You can charge it at Tesla Superchargers!!! And they even have a BrightDrop owners forum at Chevy BrightDrop Forum

I think that was probably by design.

Most of the American car companies don't have a real interest in EVs --sometimes I wonder if they even have an interest in any kinds of vehicles. They see E as just costly erosion to their 100 year history. And they have had their chances, Ford could have absolutely ruled the market with the Lightning, but problems, poor construction, and way overpricing to suit the yuppie market is not sustainable, especially on the truck side with commercial usage.

We won't see good reasonably priced EV/trucks in the US until the protectionism is dropped and Asian manufacturers can provide reliable competitive lower cost vehicles. You can't even check out a hybrid BYD Shark in the US due to government restrictions. I think the Rivian is a good vehicle but the price tag is over the top.

I think the EV tax credit is dead, but the incentive may likely come back since it looks like they have a lot of them in stock.
For example the first one I looked at still has about a $24k discount.

MSRP$73,430
25MY BrightDrop Consumer Cash Program- $21,500
DEALER DISCOUNT- $2,503
SALE Price:$49,427
Total Savings$24,003

I think $49K is not a great deal for a defunct noisy/cold electric tin box that may no longer have any dealer support after its warranty expires. For that money, we may soon be able to buy used Cybertrucks.

Hey dude, your president is a Republican, your congress is Republican, your senate is Republican but sure, your problem is definitely the Dems...
Wake up he just jot in office, and he's not the one that created a 25 year high inflation rate and record number of illegals where many woman and children have been raped and killed hell Biden could barely put two sentences together, nice try though.

Ya wrong. Trump is the one who initiated the inflation. His wacked policy in the first term and Biden's continuation of the same wacked policy caused the inflation spike (along with the pandemic) and now even more excess government control/intervention, taxation (i.e. tariffs), and corporate socialism is making things even worse. And unemployment is also rising now too. Trump/Biden/Trump is all one bad continuation policy with plenty of big gigantic ugly spending bills to boot for both them (which contributes to inflation too).

What's worse for me is I don't need the Celebrity Apprentice government guy telling me what to buy. Why should I pay Musk 70k for a car I can buy from BYD for 30k? So he can spend his Trillion dollar government corporate welfare bonus for me too for repacking Chinese parts? No thanks.

And besides they are backing off on illegals now since red farm states are complaining about not having enough 8.00/hr labor and on the other side H1Bs are back now too since I guess the Celebrity Apprentice guy doesn't think we have enough talent...

Glad I have dirtbike.

I agree with you some ways I didn't like Trump or Harris but though Trump was 10 time better than Harris who was put in and Dem/libs were forced to vote for her and 200 billion for health care for illegals is out of line and I agree we have are bikes. I live in ca and it's bad .
