It's not that simple. The charger uses a boost converter to charge the battery at 450V and 3A for slow charging, this works out to around 12A of 110V current.I agree make your own power adapter super easy. I like the model below from Amazon, its UL listed

3 amps is 3 amps, you are conflating WATTS with amps. Volts = Watts/Amps. if your pulling 12A while slow charging you have a bad power plug, or high resistance.
