Rox Handlebar Risers - Cable Length Issues?

Hey All,

First post here. Just purchased a EX yesterday with delivery expected in March.

I've been without a bike for about 6 years (injury + young kids) and am pumped to get back into it.

Anyways, I'm a tall guy and I've always had trouble with the ergonomics of my bikes until I installed the Rox 5" handlebar riser (I know it looks a bit absurd at that height). But the trouble I encountered before was having to reroute wires and cables or even purchase longer/custom cables to accommodate the extra height.

With the wiring of the Starks, does anyone suspect if this will be an issue in terms of not having enough excess wire length to get an extra 5"? I know the wiring is currently routed through the handlebar, which I presume id have to ditch to make this work.

Fair point. I've watched some of the install videos for the MX model and it seems like it likely won't be doable without wiring extenders and male/female harnesses on each end.

Just a guess though and based on the MX.

I have a buddy with risers on his Varg MX, however, I'm sure they are much less than 5"

Yea the 5" are definitely on the extreme side. I could likely get away with less and be fine.

Was just curious if others had played around with risers and encountered issues or found ways to make it work at all.

It would be pretty easy to extend the wiring on the current model.
But the new EX model will have a sealed new version of the wiring harness, so, it may be more difficult, or you may be able to find the right connectors to make extensions. I doubt if Stark will offer any plug and play solution.

Yea, that's what I was thinking as well. Might have to just custom fab some wiring extenders once I get my hands on the bike and can confirm the connectors and wiring used for the EX.

Agreed that chances are slim that Stark would offer an option here since this is probably a rare 'need' from their customer base.

Once I get it I'll definitely take some photos and upload here. My only guess would be a cutout/hole in the bar itself to enter at the center and then another cutout/hole under the controls.

But that would add a weaker region in the bar of that we're the case. Maybe the bar is just thicker walled to accommodate that.

I had not heard of the in-bar wiring routing (didn't watch the vid). What do you do if you want to swap the bars out (pretty common mod)?

I wonder if you could just run the wires externally if you went with different bars?

Yes, they actually mentioned in the video that you can swap out the bars and run the wiring externally.
