tools or tips for gear removal

Going thru the process of replacing my bent output shaft ... I have the bolt & nut securing the gears off, but cannot get the gears off.



I tried some harbor freight gear pullers, but they cannot get under the gears.

Sounds like I need these tools:

I’m sure if you just ride it around like that for a bit, they’ll come flying off and you’ll be all set!

I think @TCMB371 pulled those gears recently to replace some bearings, so maybe he has some advice.

My Output Shaft Snapped.

So my output shaft snapped today just behind the front sprocket. Luckily the rear tire didn't lock up but rather the bike freewheeled. Chain slack was normal. I was going through a fast roller section. Heres a pic with the boot guard removed. Collar still over the end of the the shaft on the...

I have ground down puller arm tabs to make fit under gears -

tricks on pulling gears -

with Puller installed and tightened -
warm up gear slightly with torch

Lightly wack puller bolt with steel hammer

@schwankl I used the factory Alta gear pullers. I believe @Matt lent them to me, maybe he still has them?

I have a new output shaft, small & big gears and a cover gasket if you are interested.

Thanks @VINSANITY - I think I got all the parts, gaskets, 2 different sized o-rings. Bryan and Rashid have put a lot of detail in this thread: My Output Shaft Snapped. ... If anyone else has to do this procedure let me know because got 100s of extra o-rings, and extra gaskets to trace/create new ones.
