Here are some tips:
1. Start with a very nice late model motorcycle. Make sure it has excellent suspension. Don't waste your time and money rebuilding an out dated and or worn out old motorcycle.
2. Any motorcycle can be converted. However, the Hondas, Yamahas and KTMs are the easiest. The KTM is the easiest by far. The Honda is a close second.
3. The power and range of the electric motorcycle is a function of your battery design. Thus, you will want to squeeze the largest battery possible into your chassis.
4. 30KW of motor power is way more than anyone needs. Thus, a QS138 motor is ideal.
5. A battery with a 20s 12p cell configuration for good power and range. This will give you 72v (nominal) and approximately 58wh. Trail riding burns about 1.5wh per mile.
6. I recommend either Molicel 42B or Reliance RS 50 cells. Amorge in China is the best source.
7. I recommend using an EBMX X-9000 V3 controller with a QS138 wiring harness. However, the Votol EM-260 and wiring harness is 1/2 the price and offers great performance.
8. Find a friend with solid electrical, mechanical, metal fabrication and welding skills.
