I also have machining capability. How much would you guys be willing to pay for an aluminum case? That would determine how many I would need to make to break even or make a little money. Not trying to rain on your parade, Silent But Dirty.

    Broken display - solution?

The display is the termination point of the CAN bus. Unless you are able to install firmware on it, it will not communicate with the rest of the bus.

    Possible sources for battery repair?

Code 36 is not necessarily, and likely not, 'bad' cells. It's not a matter of replacing cells.

    Possible sources for battery repair?

Please don't recommend that inexperienced people disassemble battery packs. It's very irresponsible., 350 volts can kill you. Lithium battery cells can also catch fire and burn down your house, and your neighbor's house. We take great care to completely discharge packs completely before the...

Those on the service team wish that they were kept active as well. I don't know anything more than you, but I think there will be some news soon. Go ride your bike and enjoy your weekend. You might feel better.

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

We've seen customers ride for several weeks with the code latched. I'm unsure what the result will be, whether the battery will retain any damage, or whether there are safety issues. For those of you continuing to ride with the code latched, please provide me with some feedback on any...

And the same is true for others. Assuming may lead to mistakes in this attempted analysis. Just my opinion.

    BAD NEWS

Before you guys become (more) disgruntled, please realize that there are legal issues that limit what can and can't be announced until there is a deal in place. It's not because no one cares about it. Ignoring those legal issues could torpedo the whole process. There are people trying to save...

    Code 36 service required???

The connectors on the R battery are different, designed for more connection cycles and easier to use, therefore the 19 harness is needed. As for the R battery making more power, that was never the main intention, it was longer use before thermal limiting. I think if you put a 17 MX and a 19 MXR...

Our own Alta software/firmware team -- Join in

The batteries are exactly the same. Improvements were made to manufacturing processes to prevent the issue from reoccurring. You would not be able to see those changes.

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

Probably not caused by any riding behavior. It's a voltage imbalance within one or more of the battery modules. It indicated a possible interrupted connection between cells, a fault within the battery itself.

If no one is creating new firmware and the server it lived on is turned off, there's no need for a laptop to update it. There are diagnostic features there, but there are no actual problem solving features. Without the ability to view gathered data, it's simply a code reader. Those are already...

    What coolant?

Any 50/50 you would use in any other motorcycle is fine. If you change it, let the pump run while you add coolant. The pump can run dry for weeks, don't worry about damaging it. Let the pump circulate the fluid as you add it. Then, I recommend that you take a short ride and check it again...

    BAD NEWS

Some important functional updates in there. It should not affect the performance at all. Recommended for safety and reliability, which is generally the root of all the firmware updates. Things we learn from in the field failures and glitches (we call them bugs) are remedied and prevented from...
