Pros and Cons to moving the screen module

Sorry I'm hijacking this thread!! Picture of my mount showing where it will bolt to the backside of the number plate, on it's side going vertically...

Pros and Cons to moving the screen module

I was going to do something like that, but instead I decided to make a mount that just screws(4, M6 counter sunk screws) to the number plate only.. My thinking here was.... Screen mount could be smaller and lighter.. The numberplate mounting seems pretty supportive so the little weight on it...

Pros and Cons to moving the screen module

3D printing my mount now, so I can move the screen behind the number plate... Won't work if you have a headlight, naturally.. I'll see what I have in 20 hours haha!

Getting used to this no-clutch thing!

    Wow that place looks fun!

Getting used to this no-clutch thing!

Yep typical Central Oregon! Yeah my buddy here is looking to buy one and I hear there are more in town also...

Pros and Cons to moving the screen module

I think I am going to move mine to behind the number plate, sideways so you can view the screen through the fork tubes when you turn right..

Getting used to this no-clutch thing!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I'm starting to figure out that the Linear(like above) setting is great for higher speed stuff, but slower speed stuff the wide is definitely better...

Pros and Cons to moving the screen module

I'm liking this idea... A 3d printed mount or something in there would be super cool I might work on that...

Getting used to this no-clutch thing!

Nothing special just some goofing around killing some time, hill climbing, getting some strength training in muscling this thing around, hopping downed trees, some rocks, etc.... The slow speed traction quality is so freaking cool...

New to me 2017 MX... Code 33 / 007 charging fault...

Mark's been helping me a bit(thanks Mark!), and I tried replacing this switching mosfet thingy, but still no luck. Kinda fun doing this stuff though. Used a 5min setup thermal epoxy and added a little heatsink anyways!

    Electric clutch

Yes! I want the burst of Map 4 to instantly get the tire up, as in jumping over a downed tree, but then I want my left finger to kill the power if/when my right hand can't rewind the throttle...

    Electric clutch

If the Alta had a true light pull mechanical clutch it would be a game changer, even more than it is... I do agree with you that the crazy torque would probably mandate a clutch off of a car haha!

    Electric clutch

Yes exactly!!! Design the electronics Mark lets do this!!! I'm even wondering if the electronic guts could be stuffed inside a standard hydraulic clutch lever assembly master cylinder, with maybe some 3D printed supports that slide in? Just thinking outloud....

    Electric clutch

The instant surge of power you can get with a clutch isn't really my main reason for wanting this, and I realize and agree with what you note... You noting a "good right hand" is probably the best thing you could have said... When you are exhausted and can barely hold on, trying to finish a...

    Electric clutch

Anti loop-out I like that! On a motocross track I don't think the anti-loop/power chop lever would be a HUGE deal, but trail riding/enduro type stuff I think it would be a game changer.... So to move forward with this, has anyone ever looked at the signal coming out of the throttle assembly...

    Electric clutch

Oh trust me the only reason I'm even bringing up the clutch or power chop lever, is to make something SOOOOO good, just that more close to perfect... Once over 10mph I agree with everyone who says no clutch really needed, but I like to ride in challenging situations and if I ever raced this...

    Electric clutch

Oh that totally makes sense! I have not ridden mine enough to get that tricky with it haha.

I personally don't really think there is much wrong with the map switch now...

    Electric clutch

Mark being a machinist myself, and not being able to NOT modify things myself, I looked at that too but the conclusions I came up to were... It seems that with the existing design the clutch basket assembly would just have to be WAY too wide/out into your ankle, no matter what? It seems that...

    Electric clutch

Maybe we shouldn't even call what I am thinking a "clutch", as that is misleading... As TCMB noted it's just easier to have a left finger modulate throttle sometimes... When the bike is trying to rip itself forward, it's natural to have your right hand add MORE throttle, where the left finger...
