ALTA SM NOT CHARGING,NO ERROR CODE, JUST SAYS"AC GROUND NOT DETECTED"

Even without the charger manufacturer or model, it likely can be repaired by the right person. If it were mine and I couldn't fix it, I'd look around for someone who could.

    Kickstand repair

Well, the steel piece popped off - this is the 2nd time I've had a problem with JB Weld sticking, both times with zinc-plated steel. It might've been a rock too, the top end of the kickstand gets the crap kicked out of it when retracted (see pix). Time for a real repair... Glad I saved my...

    Stark Data aQ

Ime it's much more effective to reduce front-end hammer in the 12" of F suspension travel than in the maybe 1/2"? of flex-bar motion. I used to have pain in my neck/shoulders/elbows/wrists, but after my last AER makeover (in Suspension section) all pain is gone, and I feel nearly zero impact...

    Replacement 2018 MXR rear wheel?

I got an 18 x 2.50 wheel (should be great for paddle tire) from Warp 9 on 12/10/19, item nr. 99-41812-2, $290 shipped with the Black Friday discount. I got a 19 x 2.50 from them too.

Media Review Media Week in Spain - Electric Cycle Rider

On a torque-based system, a minimum TC-activation level (wheel intertia/chain & bearing drag/etc) could be set, allowing panic rev. With zero traction available in the air, there'd be no point in having the TC online.

Media Review Media Week in Spain - Electric Cycle Rider

Imo it would be cool to take a non-rpm-related approach to TC, using a swingarm-mounted pressure sensor/pivot arm/small sprocket on the top chain run. You'd need baseline max-traction chain tension data (slicks on asphalt) and also throttle-position input, but you'd end up with TC action...

The "Professional" media goons are silly rabbits!

One of the major problems I've had with ICE bikes has been hillclimbs, especially the approaches to them. In this case, the short-duration event (approach) could cause massive control issues (bogging, stalling. looping out) on the hill itself. My Alta doesn't care - it just deals with...

    Price increase 1k

Yes. I wonder if the 2-year warranty's transferable in a resale (didn't see it mentioned in the terms & conditions).

Stark told me this AM they don't support order transfers to another person.

Media Review Media Week in Spain - VitalMX Review

After watching all the videos, I take back my original impression - it was the riders I initially saw that were slow, not the bike (seeing Josh Hill rip made that clear). There was also plenty of genuine enthusiasm for the bike. Stoked!

Media Review Media Week in Spain - VitalMX Review

I get a strange feeling watching these videos - such a big difference from Alta first-riders yelling into their helmets. I see what looks to be Alta map 3 power, and some fairly faint praise - but it's a pre-production bike, and will surely improve as time goes on.

Alta MX Cone Valve / Trax Suspension Swap

Thanks for the kind words regarding my Ohlins. My suspension needs are pretty simple but making them happen is a real challenge sometimes (but fun). I've read Race Tech's 'Motorcycle Suspension Bible' cover-to-cover several times which really helped a lot, and it's great to actually look...

Alta MX Cone Valve / Trax Suspension Swap

Yes, it looks like there definitely is a clearance problem, or at least the potential for one: Fwiw, the shock on the right (2018 MXR) is 475mm eye-eye. Hopefully someone here who's actually changed out the 2017 shock will chime in. I wouldn't worry too much about shock overall length...

Flow DV shock mods / revalve and the 'Ӧhlins experience'

I didn't really get a chance to try out my stock Flow. I bought it from an Ohlins service ctr and was having it shortened anyway, so I had it revalved it while it was apart. What I got was a huge improvement over the WP for woods riding, but still way overdamped for me. The TTX44 is a really...

    Kickstand repair

Just noticed something - on level pavement, turning the bars full right results in the bike being perfectly vertical; a small breeze would blow mine over. This is easily avoided on harder surfaces, but also works amazing sometimes in the dirt - I put the stand down in sand w/bars right & pushed...

AER revalve #2 and 'air-to-air' conversion

I love air forks! My first real dirt bike ('74 CR125M, 175cc now) had a Goki air kit to both legs fm a single valve, & worked great for years - silky smooth, handled everything including massive hits, and was so much better than any of the other bikes I rode back then. I was hoping my AER fork...

Cool! Did you use the mid valve on your Flow, or leave it sealed?

    Hypertek

A friend sent me this link today, about the Hypertek ebikes. Looks to me like it has an anti-squat drive. Don't know if it ever went into production (probably not). .

Flow DV shock mods / revalve and the 'Ӧhlins experience'

Over the past several months I've slowly gotten my suspension working better for the woods riding I do. My goals are maximum traction and minimal felt impact. I know I'm getting close when 1) I forget about the suspension while riding 2) tire pressure has near-zero effect on ride comfort &...
