I’m curious how often people actually use their display functions. Other than settings either KPH/MPH, the only useful function is being able to toggle the hour meter, which I believe most people will base their maintenance on. This has to do with an alternative display board housing design...

The 30a RV is 120v, so that doesn’t help if you want to fast charge. Without double checking I’m pretty sure you can get an adapter that goes from a 14-50P (50a RV) to a L14-30R. From there you can plug in as normal.

The black shrouds are nice. Honestly I hate white for a dirt bike.

That’s a shame. I was in line for them as well. Talked on Saturday and told me he’d call me Monday which he did not. I called back a little while ago, he said somebody from Ohio showed up with the cash.

We (or at least I) like to see the battery tab to get a good visual of things. You would need to view that tab at different state of charges to really evaluate, although you likely are fine. Thank you for working on the multitool install!

As I recall from old discussions Alta did at one point come to the realization that the use of these inserts wasn’t going to handle the abuse that a dirt bike was going to receive. I’d say it was more of a poor choice than horrible design. They had such large quantities of plastic already...

Typically we see this happen early on, but it is possible to have one come loose later in the batteries life. The concern with 2018 MXRs is that the original firmware did not detect the P group imbalance that this condition causes, so if your bike has original firmware the issue could be there...

I have a can of that, it’s fine. Any paste style with a brush would be my 1st choice.

Every bike I’ve owned since my very first MX bike that had an insert stripped in the gas tank, I remove any hardware in contact with brass threads and coat the threads with anti-seize. It doesn’t help that there is a lot of thread locking compound used throughout these Altas as well.

I think this fault will come up for a variety of issues, but I could be wrong. I know of at least one instance where it was a fault within the battery, and if I recall correctly I even had this one come up on the SM I was working on that had a bad charger.
