Did he try Nationwide? It could be a state to state issue, but I have full coverage on multiple bikes including the Alta for less than that quote.

I haven't myself looked, but I was following some discussion on the same unit where someone else confirmed there was no 240v tap. I should look myself to be sure. I had some electrical engineers I know do the math as to what step-up transformer it would take but in the end it works out to be...

Poor guy knows he did a dumb dumb, it happens to the best of them. I think in the future for the sake of competition they need to be able to customize or lock out certain maps that are undesirable for the situation.

Ray, Can I use a step up transformer to get 240v from my Onan 4000 watt 120v generator that’s in my RV? I’ll be taking the Alta with me on some upcoming trips and I’d love to be able to charge on 240 without having to drag another generator with me.

Same on mine and all the ones I’ve seen in the showroom. I thought something was wrong at first also.

I’d like to know more about this gearing change. @Fog 25 what was the motivation for the change on yours? How do you like it?

Interesting. You guys do have a unique opportunity to do some various comparisons. Although I would like to do certain tests myself when I’m out with mine, I just end up riding and having fun instead.

Way too much money if your only need is to charge the bike at the track. If you have other uses that can justify the price, then that's another story. Sounds like you first generator might have been the best all around value in a 240v unit.

I’d be very interested to know how much quieter one of these inverter generators like the one Mark has is when under load from the charger.

My old Generac can sit for years at a time and start on the first or second pull. It’s loud, it’s heavy, but it always works.

Don’t feel bad, I’m told Mark911 is an actual rocket scientist so he’s pretty much the smartest guy here.

I did a quick Google of rim locks on dual sports and it sounds like it’s not unusual to not have them. Wouldn’t have thought.
