    BAD NEWS

Thanks for the comments and I agree with you. To me it felt like your comments were complaining about the color of the sheets on the patient's deathbed when we should be focused on whatever gives us a chance to keep going. If the choice is Orange or dead; I choose Orange.

    BAD NEWS

Why? I'm new to dirt riding so have no baggage with previous makers. But I don't care what the plastics look like as long as the bike lives on, continues development, and I can keep getting parts. Also, that 10-year thing everyone keeps talking about ONLY applies to emissions equipment, which...

Charger issue, 2017 Alta Redshit MX - help!

Try cycling the GFCI buttons on and off several times. If you are handy you might also try cutting the GFCI out of the system.

    Favorite off road helmet?

Cool. I'm loving it so far. Very light and good ventilation. The 100% goggles I tried didn't fit very well but the Scotts fit perfectly.

Keep us posted. Are you worried that covering the heatsink and fan will cause it to overheat?

    Best Alta Generator

The EU2000i/2200i are only 120V. Paralleling them doubles the current but not the voltage. The rapid charger is limited to 1,650W @120V. It can pull 3,300W when connected to 240V. As @Altaracer929 stated, European generators are 230/240V so their version of the small Honda generator (EU22i)...

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

This is absolutely an academic exercise. That was why I prefaced it as trivia. Most of us are taught with ICEs that you should accelerate slowly for best efficiency. With an EV the rate of acceleration doesn't change the amount of energy consumed. Now if you accelerate quickly and therefore...

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

So here's a bit of trivia regarding EVs. The rate of acceleration does not affect the amount of energy needed (Assuming no wheelspin). Unlike an ICE where accelerating rapidly requires revving higher with larger throttle openings that consumes more fuel, you do not consume more energy...

    2019 EXR. Hello. I'm Ben and . . .

    Wahoo! :ricky:

How much is it costing you to charge?

I pay $0.09/kWh all in (taxes, fees, etc). I don't know if we can access charge history from the bike but assuming the pack was dead and 10% loss through the charger, a full charge would cost me about $0.57. Oh and it'll get even cheaper in November when we go to the Winter power rates.

    Raced the National Enduro

Well this is good news. I'm a new rider but I'm looking at Cross-Country/Hare Scrambles as my first step into competition. From what I can read, my local CC Group (occra.com) runs 1.5 hour races so I should have no problem doing that, especially at my pace.

    2019 EXR. Hello. I'm Ben and . . .

Rim Lock, Tubeliss, or equivalent. Alta does not install a rim lock on the EXR. The wheel has the extra hole in the rim for it.

    Compatible with Charging Stations?

Unfortunately, the chargers are sold separately. This is one of the ways they reduced the price of the newer models to minimize sticker shock. Perhaps Alta could make the onboard charger from the SM an option on the EXR for folks that do more road riding vs trails? I haven't seen an SM...

    Best Alta Generator

Doesn't the Honda EU7000iS satisfy all of your needs (although it is expensive). 5,500 running watts, 240V/30A plug for the Alta plus some 120V outlets for other things (2 Kubergs and an Oset for the kids/wife in my case), 58dBA at 5,500W..... Honda EU7000i Model Info | Super Quiet 7000 Watt...

    Compatible with Charging Stations?

None of Alta's current models are compatible with a J1772 EVSE (most public charging pedestals). Only the SM *could* use those as it has an onboard charger. The off-road models, EX(R), MX(R) require a separate charger. But the current version of the SM does not "speak" J1772 nor does it have...

Kreft's Take on the MXR Suspension

Sounds like they need to go to the 14T front sprocket and ride in Map 4 all the time. That would solve the above.

Ultratoad is upset with Alta Motors. Wants to know when the SMR is coming out.

It does seem like building an SMR from the SM would be a pretty simple exercise but we don't know anything. Maybe they're working on a larger onboard charger, J1772 compatibility (or, gulp, DC fast charging), or something else cool and so it's more than just slamming the R battery pack into the...
