Here's a side by side of the installed SM fork leg (brake side), and a 2022 AER leg (throttle side) from a KTM 450 SFX. Stock Alta SM 4CS has 11" travel and is therefore 1" shorter than the aforementioned AER leg.

poted last week: I found the problem within the shrink wrapped 5 watt 44 ohm resistor. A cold solder joint was preventing the resistor/diode pack inside the wrapping from going to ground. The shrink needs to be removed and the circuit inside inspected and tested.
