Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

It would be awesome to have him there and you are right, 15-17 mile motocross lap with 500+ riders, it would really show what a Stark can do to a lot of riders. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Josh Hill's Oregon Riding Compound - Some Alta content.

Maybe he would like to bring a Stark to the 24 Hours of Starvation Ridge to race with some Altas this year? Race is Oct 29 & 30 and draws about 500 riders each year. :ricky:

    Battery water proofing

Data looks appropriate, temp goes up, humidity goes down. No idea the volume of air inside a battery. You could probably get fairly close to the air volume of the battery by figuring out the inside volume of the case and subtracting the volume of the battery modules, but I don't know a number...

For Sale Have Qty 6 New Rapid Charger 2103883-00

I looked into using a battery pack to power a standard charger, but don't think it is possible and don't know about a rapid charger. The Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry, from what I have been able to learn, references the AC input voltage and without it will not operate. I haven't...

For Sale Have Qty 6 New Rapid Charger 2103883-00

Yes, but depending on your FW you may not get full access to all the power the charger can provide. I have used a rapid charger on my EX with no problems and with very early FW, but don't know the charge rate. The bike may have limited the rapid charger to the same charge rate provided by a...

    Charging Times

Just after I posted my post above, I attended an Idaho National Lab (INL) presentation on EV battery charging. INL is part of US Dept of Energy and has been doing a lot of research, as far back as the 80s, on EVs and EV batteries. I don't want to hijack the post, but here are a couple of the...

    Charging Times

If you are using 120VAC, both chargers will be about the same. This is a limitation of the outlet, not the chargers. In the US, most 120 VAC outlets are 15A, the chargers typically limit the charger to 12-13A or about 1.5kw. On 240VAC the standard charger is about 2.7kw. I believe the rapid...

Are my days numbered? (in Sequim, WA)

I wouldn't think it would be too limited, but probably not as good as what you enjoy in the Carson City NV area. You probably couldn't ride much in the park, but Olympic National Forest should be open for a lot of riding. Rain might be more of an issue, but Sequim is in a rain shadow and only...

    Battery water proofing

For most humidity ratings, it is a relative percentage number based on temperature. The warmer the air, the more moisture it can handle, so as temperature goes up the relative humidity goes down for a given amount of moisture in the air. I don't know for sure if this is how Alta measures the...

    2021 edition of 24 hours of Starvation Ridge October 30 & 31

The actual address for the pits is 1140 Niva Rd, Centerville, WA 98613. If you put that in google maps it will show a little south of the pits. The pits are up by the pond and if you look at the satellite view you can see an outline of the camping/pit area up by Niva RD

    2021 edition of 24 hours of Starvation Ridge October 30 & 31

Yep, sorry, I already have other commitments. It has been a very busy year for me so the race time filled up quickly. Maybe we should start planning now for next year. It is a great event and a lot of fun if we can get enough Alta riders to commit.

    2021 edition of 24 hours of Starvation Ridge October 30 & 31

Latest update. Pre registration date is Sep 15 Price for pre registration is $400 and $500 after. We can have a maximum of 6 riders per team. I would prefer to sign up prior to Sep 15, save the $100 and get a tee shirt. Who is in? I am pretty sure @Redwolf is in, @Jared are you in? Is...

OK, Reasons to buy an ALTA!

While I agree with everything you said, the simple reason to buy an Alta is it is more fun to ride than any gas bike I have ever ridden. :ricky:

    2021 edition of 24 hours of Starvation Ridge October 30 & 31

I'm in, great event. Last year they had over 600 riders. We can have up to 6 riders on a team and really need 3-4 at a minimum so the bikes have enough time to charge between laps. Each lap is 16-18 miles through farmers fields, canyons with a trip through a couple of buildings thrown in to...

New member from the UK looking for help/advice please.

You can look in the "Alta Alternatives" section of the forum. There is both a production and DIY section. There are a number of proposed or production bikes in there.

    Stacyc

Keep it and let him develop the skills. With time, I would think he should be able to master it. If you really want to sell it I would think you could unload it on craigslist or Facebook marketplace or another site like those.

    Standard charger in Australia

The standard charger is based on the Elcon PFC charger which will do 85-265VAC and 45-65hz. The case is different and they have a CAN bus adaptor inside but the main board is the same.
