    BAD NEWS

Stay positive, as owners we have a lot to be happy about still. 1. We have a great bike to ride. 2. Should last a long time. 3. If it does break most of the components should be pretty easy to fix. Electric motors have been around for over 100 years and last thousands of hours, frame is...

    BAD NEWS

I think the current "for a limited time only" sale is to support existing owners and sell existing inventory at the best price to help settle debt. The hope is that someone else will see value in Alta's IP, buy them, and keep the dream alive.

    BAD NEWS

I think that if Alta could have articulated a path to profitability, investors, including Harley, would have been lining up to give them money. They have a great product, but you cant sell something that cost $33,692 for $13,000 and expect to stay in business. I understand product development...

    Well that sucks.

    Broken display - solution?

Not sure that is true. The display is shot, no question, but the back of the board doesn't look bad. There may be a crack in it (uper/center section of board), but it is hard to tell in the picture. If the board is ok, then it may be possible to fix it by replacing the display.

    Broken display - solution?

How is the display attached to the board? If it is just the 20 solder connections on the edge of the display, then it would not be to dificult to replace the display if you can find a replacement. Kind of depends on if you damaged the board or if taking out he display also took out other...

    BAD NEWS

Low income is $117k in San Fran. I doubt any employee at Alta was only making $50k. Good start at making money would be to move out of the bay area. You may need to keep R&D there, but not manufacturing.

Might also be able to fab something up to protect the display.

Our own Alta software/firmware team -- Join in

I think the key issue is what software can we use, or develop, to both analyze, modify, or update the Altas without access to Alta's server. From my understanding, to replace the screen, and probably other parts, you need the Alta computer and connection to the Alta server. If Alta is no more...

    BAD NEWS

I have an 18 EX with 2300 miles, no codes or problems. I also have the original firmware version, I never updated my firmware because I like the higher regen I have in map 3 & 4 to what they changed too.

Any way to eliminate the key?

You are corrrect. Should have said 50 watts, not amps. Sorry for the confusion.
  18. bluefxstc

Any way to eliminate the key?

Not worth worrying about. Grand total, headlight and tail light you are something less than 50 watts, probably closer to 35-40W, but will go big to be conservative. For a three hour ride that is 150Wh out of 5800Wh or about 2.5%. If you go 40 miles in the three hours you are talking 1.03...

    Broken display - solution?

Do you think we can replace the LCD display while leaving the display drivers alone to avoid the firmware issue or is it one integrated module? @Oded, does the bike still work? I thoght I read somewhere that without the display the bike wouldn't work.
