AMA and Electric Motorcycles in AMA races

The AMA came out with Supplement 2024 Rules that states "Electric motorcycles are only permitted in the Mini-E Class" I responded to this absurdity by sending AMA the email below. I directly asked AMA their reasons why they did this. I will follow up here if I get an answer. I encourage everyone...

Check your Stark Varg charger plug

OK thanks, the 120/240 Alta adapter cord I made is wired same as yours thus will work on Stark. The orange one piece adapter above has the neutral and hot swapped so no good for Stark charge.

Check your Stark Varg charger plug

OK, so the moral of the story is just ignore the colors of the conductors on the 240V NEMA 1430R male plug on our Varg chargers. The Europeans used black as ground. As far as the 120V to 240V adapter goes, is it OK to use the orange single-piece unit? Swank171, 120/240V adapter didn't work so...

Check your Stark Varg charger plug

POSSIBLE INCORRECT 240V CHARGER PLUG WIRING Recently picked up my Stark from Pilgrim Motorsports, Plymouth, MA., VIN...002217. Have not plugged in charger yet. Maybe that's a good thing... My male plug (NEMA L14-30) connections are good and solid, unlike other's that had poor connections...

    Varg charging from generator.

I think it’s the first law of thermodynamics that states energy cannot be created nor destroyed. You will not get more energy out of that generator by going to higher voltage watts equals volts times amps if you double the voltage, you will get half the amperage the watts remains constant...

    2018 EX firmware update, then Code 35 & 36

Onelapper, you have been amazingly helpful, thank you. At a time of peril, it is welcome to have fellow Alta-ites lend a hand. Started as a problem where quick charger would not initiate charging unless at least 25% depleted. Then I noticed reduced range. Then charger only charged to 75%. While...

2017 Alta MX not charging (code 103)

Hello Fellow Alta-ites, I have a similar problem with my 2018 EX Serial # 54. Fast charger gives an error "STOPPED 103" on display if I try charging when battery is above 75% capacity. Thus I must get the bar graph below 75% for charging to initiate, then charges 100%. But last time I charged...

    Front hub mod

On the subject of fitting KTM wheels on the Alta I just put the wheels from my '19 350 EXC ICE bike on my Alta EX as follows: Rear: bolts on as-is, no mods required. Front: I used the Alta spacers and I placed 7mm washer shims between the caliper and its bracket and I used bolts about 7mm...

Alta MXR 2019 how to activate 12V electricity at the light aux conector behind the front number plate or find 12V output

The aux connector is a small push in bulb on the EX that is inside the stock headlight, positioned low, same as found on many KTM's, etc. It's like a running light, low wattage, maybe intended to provide lumens if main headlight bulb burns out? I use that connector to power a Baja Designs S2 LED...

    Tires for the enduro models

Took delivery of Kenda IBEX and Shinko 525. have not ridden yet. First thing I noticed is Shinko feels heavy. Verified this with my scale: Kenda IBEX 120/100-18 = 13.0 lb Shinko 525 120/100-18 = 16.1 lb Dunlop AT81 120/90-18 = 12.0 lb

    Tires for the enduro models

I know what you mean about difficult to decide between a 110 and a 120 rear. You may want to check out the Maxxis Trailmaxx 400 X 18 I have not tried it but know some that have and they love it for rocks and roots.

    Tires for the enduro models

My opinion of the rear Shinko 505 has waned, need something bigger than 100/110 for all that Alta torque, going to try one of the following next: Kenda IBEX K744 120/100 Shinko Holeshot ST 525 120/100 Dunlop Geomax AT 81 EX 110/100 (does not come in 120/100)

Tires for the Northeast 24lhr Challenge

Woops, my comments above about size 100 being too small and 120 too big and heavy were intended for the Shinko 505, not Pirelli MT43. Yes OneLapper - I will provide my feedback on the next tire I try but may not be for a while as I am not riding much in the winter. And for what it is worth (all...

Tires for the Northeast 24lhr Challenge

I have ridden the MT43 trials tire and it is good in rocks but a couple of experienced riders told me the Maxxis M7320 Trailmax which is like a trials is much better. Also the 100 size seems too small and the 120 too big and heavy. The Shinko 505 for me just doesn't hold well and feels a bit...

Tires for the Northeast 24lhr Challenge

For the front my standard for many years was the Bridgestone M59. Great traction especially in rocks. problem it gets clapped out quickly really only good for two rides max. now I am using the Shinko 216MX Fat Tyre 90/100-21 basically same as Goldentyre GT216AA Great traction and holds up well...
