One advantage of an electric bike.........

That's an incredible video, OneLapper you are one courageous rider, deepest crossing I have ever seen a bike conquer, water went over your front fender!, you didn't even dab!, the line I picked near the beaver dam was not a hot setup, too deep and lots of detritus in water, fun ride, two Altas...

Did you keep your old bike?

I picked up an ICE bike a couple of weeks ago purely for those rides that are longer than the range of my Alta (about 30 miles). But the fact is I vastly prefer riding the Alta. Much more fun and I think I am a better rider on the Alta.

    AOF mini rally.... very mini

Your backwards swan dive in the big puddle provided good humor OneLapper but in all seriousness you rode very well and we appreciated you showing us where the sunken obstacles were to prevent us from doing same. You have your MX set up very nicely and that left hand brake lever you custom built...

    AOF mini rally.... very mini

Nice job on the ride report OneLapper. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride yesterday and pleased to meet you...and your MX. Those were some slick conditions; allowed our Alta's to really shine with their linear throttle response. That's one of the features I appreciate; immediate, predictable, precise...

    New Seat

Got the Seat Concepts tall seat foam and cover, does not include seat pan, assembled easily, totally pleased, I am 6'2"and always get a tall seat, makes riding much less cramped and more comfortable. I recommend for riders 6'0"and taller. Did not raise bars and not sure if I want to.

    DEFECTIVE 4CS FORK!!!

Good info. I was wondering about the mash factor also, possibly the cone stuck to the tapered rod and rode with it and if i didn't bottom out during that period - no mashing? Your 2015 Husky was loose straight out of the box and you rode 15 minutes, felt crappy, took to tuner and he found...

    Tires for the enduro models

Yup, just look up the tire in the Nitro Mousse bib chart, google it or see Rocky Mt or Slavens websites for chart.

Re-springing a 2017 Alta Redshift MX (and then revalving too)

Philip, Thanks for sending the factory developed MX suspension specs. Out of curiosity I compared the shim stacks in my EX with your chart and summarize as follows: Base valve shims - mine are exactly same as your MX Alta says. (why do you not list the four 6 X 28 X .15 shims in your actually...

    Tires for the enduro models

For New England terrain I did not like the stock tires. Here's what I am running: Front = Shinko 90/100 - 21 216 MX Fat Tyre (same as Goldentyre GT 216AA) Rear = Shinko 110/100 - 18 Holeshot HT 505 Cheater Nitro Mousse Bibs Available at Rocky Mountain and Slavens.

    DEFECTIVE 4CS FORK!!!

Here's a good one: I just dismantled my EX 4CS fork and when I removed the 17mm allen on the bottom the base valve fell out dismantled, with the aluminum post completely unscrewed from the 10mm hex nut and the shims totally loose and 'floating' non the post! This was the rebound side and...

Updated the firmware on my EX today

Oded, are you absolutely positive you got firmware for the EX, not the SM or MX?

Updated the firmware on my EX today

Well, if that's the case, maybe I don't want to update my EX software. I don't want map 1 stronger and I do want significant differences from map 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. Question: what do you mean by no 'difference in regen as before?'

    EX Suspension

Oh, I was trying to ask you how you determined that your MX fork spring is .52 kg/mm as shown in your chart below. I have no numbers stamped on mine but Alex at Slavens Racing (very cordial on phone) said he believes EX fork is 5.0 N/mm. And your MX rear is labeled 63N/mm thus its a 6.422 kg/mm...

    EX Suspension

OK good info How did you determine that stock MX front is 6.3 kg/mm? My fork springs are not labeled, would be nice to know their spring rate, I do know they are 18.625"long (beware that earlier 4CS fork had shorter 18.250 length spring), wire dia 5.24mm, 25 coils. I'm thinking of searching...

    NRC fender eliminator

OK thanks for the tip, cringe a little at wasting that 3.7 or 4.7 watts but it's tiny.

    EX Suspension

The suspension on the EX is way too soft for my liking. I'm 210 lb dry and ride New England single track that includes a copious amount of rocks and roots. Stock rear spring is a 60/260. I'm assuming that is 6.0 kg/mm? Anyone know what stock fork spring rate is? The MX has similar components...

    Alta Fast charger

My fast charger worked the 1st time, charged to 100%, then I went for a short ride, came back home, plugged it in and it did not work, got "error 103" on dash. At that point I was thinking maybe it doesn't like to initiate charging if nearly fully charged. Went riding, pounded out 25 miles of...

240v female to 110v male adapter

I made a 240V to 120V adapter from Home Depot parts. At first I did it the wrong way, from the 120V male plug I connected the black (120V hot) to both the X and Y terminals of the L14-30R female 240V socket, green ground to G and white neutral to W. This is called bridged. Didn't work. Then I...

    NRC fender eliminator

I have same problem with the S2 LED headlight I bought from Motominded, it flashes on for 1/2 second then nothing, no light. If I turn off the bike key switch, wait 10 sec, turn it back on, LED flashes again, then dead. Here's a portion of the prompt and detailed response I got from Motominded...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

All the above, plus: Resettable odometer - at least on the EX LED lights on the EX Tuck in kickstand better on the EX so doesn't compete with heel Put coolant pump on a thermostat Rim locks on the EX (looks like the EXR gets one in the rear) Alta Hard Parts Catalog including things such as tall...
