    What might have been

Absolutely correct. X and Y axis are always stronger than Z axis with FDM type printers. I've found that excessive cooling prevents good layer adhesion. My best results (in terms of strength) have come from prints where the cooling fan is basically turned off. This certainly comes at the cost of...

    What might have been

Depends on the type of plastic used. Some thermoplastics, like PLA, are hard but brittle. Others, like PETG, offer incredible strength while allowing some flexibility. Others, like Nylon, are incredibly strong and rigid.

    Why do you say that?

    What might have been

Currently, I don't have a 3d printer large enough to print a full size shroud. However, i do plan on making side number plates here pretty soon. That said, I'd want John's permission to use his design before i even thought about trying to print them.

    FIM announces new E-bike class

Actually it sounds like it's more for electric bicycles but it does say they'll be doing a 30+1 on the track.

    What might have been

John sent me these a while ago when I was chatting with him. Since he released a picture of his own I hope he's ok with me posting these pics he sent me. The new body work looked great imo.

    TCMB 3D Printed Parts

Printed a low quality PLA mock-up of the prototype left boot guard / front sprocket cover. I need to make a few adjustments but it fits! That was the goal of this print.

    TCMB 3D Printed Parts

I understand. I'm going to do more testing with this latest revision in PETG and then step up to ABS if i'm not satisfied with the durability. Going the shapeways route really isn't cost effective in my opinion as it would drastically drive the price of the part up.

    TCMB 3D Printed Parts

I've thought about printing nylon, but my current setup can't do it. You need a 3d printer that can withstand extruder temps of 300*C+ and in some cases an enclosure to lock the heat in so that the print doesnt warp.

    TCMB 3D Printed Parts

Long story short, after extensive testing the version of the lower chain slider with the ALTA wording will not suffice. They did not hold up well in my testing and i would not feel comfortable offering them to the community. That said, I've since designed a new version (rev 3 at this point)...

    Complete Battery Pack Teardown

Max voltage on the cells is currently limited to roughly 4.05v which makes the total pack voltage upwards of 340-350v when fully charged and balanced.

    Complete Battery Pack Teardown

That's a great video showing the tear down of the pack and its internals. I've seen a lot of pictures but seeing video of it explains things a lot better to me. Note at 11:42, he shows the 4 Thermal Couple locations on the PCB. You can see all 4 of these temperatures for each module in...

Change of Pace - KX125 Shreddage at Pala Raceway

I'll likely always take both the MXR and the 125 to the tracks now. I get way more riding time in that way. Ride the 125 while the Alta is charging back up.

    Best Alta Generator

That price is outrageous to me.... The new Predator 4375 from Harbor Freight will fit the bill just fine. 4375 Max Starting/3500 Running Watts, 6.5 HP (212cc) Generator CARB with GFCI Outlet Protection At some point we may be able to charge our bikes faster (higher amps). If I were...
