THIS IS AWESOME Phillip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to take this info to my suspension guy in Reno, and use this as a base line. Hopefully after my total knee replacement surgery in 2 weeks, I will get my ready to ride weight down to the 240 from 285ish.
Haven't looked at mine, don't even know if I have a steer tube offset. It makes sense that yours was set up with the front wheel in the most forward position for high speed MotoX.
I dropped my front forks 1/8" or .125" and I like it. I do mostly trail riding with speeds below 45MPH, except for sand washes and fire roads. Ironically, I haven't noticed any negative issues with lower the fork. I am not pushing my EXR at any kind of offroad race pace speeds.
Just throwing this out there, I personally know of a 285 pound guy (gear, camelback full of water and tools) that has A rider skill in off road conditions with C rider speed that would gladly assist with rider R&D should Alta every come back.
I have ran BRP chain guides on all my gassers for years and years. Its tough and works. I will put one on my EXR when the stock unit needs replacement.
I went for a short ride yesterday between rain/snow storms, it was 48F, and I rode WOT from hot off full charger to 50% SOC. Traveled about 13-14 miles. Couldn't duplicate what you experienced.
