On the Alta, I think I'm going back to the Bel-Ray Super Clean chain lube I used for years on my ICE bikes (it dries into a whitish semi-adhesive grease & just stays in place). The Maxima synthetic I'm using on the Alta now collects into giant black blobs under the front sprocket, then falls...

Yeah, I was surprised - the manual procedure gave me the impression it would just come right off. Maybe it was hammered into the taper from 800+ miles of riding. I'm looking for more stability and less headshake too.

Just fwiw - my '18 MXR stem took over 1.5 tons pressure to remove from the bottom triple clamp.

If the fuse wire's aluminum, I've had the same problem. There's at least one guy at Endless Sphere who's successfully using soldered copper fuse wire (thread).
