General 2018 MXR Quick Start Guide

Does anyone have one of these? I don't think I got one with my bike. I'm looking for the map/regen info - thanks.

Want to buy EX / EXR/SM Lower Headlight Mount

You might want to give them a shout to check - as of late last year they still had unlisted parts. I was looking for the rear brake line holder and they made up an ebay auction immediately for me, worked out great.

Wow, sounds great - lots of nice features. I assume it will be available in the US at some point?

    Anyone Using 16:53 Gear Ratio

The acceleration chain torque has an anti-squat effect - it pulls down on the top of the rear sprocket and up on the front sprocket, extending the rear suspension & lifting the frame. My wheelie-practice bike's rear wheel is locked in a floor chock w/no brake, and the anti-squat effect topped...

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

Terrific - but will it be effective off-road ?

In map 4 w/stock tires I was able to slowly accelerate (not just roll) my MXR on sheet ice, with little or no wheelspin. On ICE bikes I always rated my throttle control as 'poor', but after getting used to the Alta things are better now, mostly due to the bike.

Stark Varg foot or hand brake?

Agreed - I'd definitely go for it. It's good to know they've already worked out the details for the accessory LHRB to work with the foot brake.

Stark Varg foot or hand brake?

I asked Mike Lorenzo at Stark whether the hand-brake option included the foot brake, he replied this AM: "No it doesn't. If you choose foot brake the hand brake is not included and viceversa but you will be able to buy it later in our Parts and Accessories."

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

+1. Honestly, If the Varg is even close to my MXR and Stark stays in business for 5+ years post delivery, I'll be ecstatic. :)

STARK VARG (Something new is coming!)

+1, but in this case I'm going to pony up the $100 as a demand indicator. IMO it's especially important for US and other distant-country buyers to do this, as it may make Stark more likely to set up dealers (or at least importers) there. According to the Stark terms and conditions, the order...

    drop and pop

When I was 19 I did something very similar, by mistake - flew off a steep 50' hillclimb onto the flat approach to it. I was going faster & got about the same air time, landing on the front wheel :(. I bent the forks but didn't crash. No wish to repeat.

    My Output Shaft Snapped.

Idk about the motor-shaft thing, but if you're concerned about it here's another tool I really like - the Motion Pro 08-0008 clutch holding tool. I've used it for a bunch of other things too, it's pretty versatile. Without protection it might chew the gear teeth a little, but if you're...

    My Output Shaft Snapped.

I've had good luck with the Motion Pro 08-0427, on both straight-cut and helical. It seems to push against the tooth bases in a 'circumferential' direction, and the end engagement wedge has a slight tilt to it (probably for helicals).

SB Moto ABS wheelie bar install / test

Hey, I posted two! :) Trust me, no one wants to watch me ride, much less wheelie.

SB Moto ABS wheelie bar install / test

Here I go with another wheelie thing! - but this isn't a bolted-down dollar store ride this time, this is an Alta. :) I was looking for conventional wheelie casters - didn't really want one, but what else was there? - and found the answer: the SB Moto ABS wheelie bar. It looks like a caster...

    Mileage and Range Expectations

+1 ! Even on an IP67 bike, the temp swings and dew-point transitions don't do anything any good.

Side panel / number plate screw spacers / compression limiters

This is what I wrote down the first time my number plates came off: Rear screw has a short black spacer, the 2nd & 3rd screws use medium-length silver spacers, and the front screw has a long black spacer.

    Code 110 Charging Stopped

My 30kW house generator does - a long stake driven deep into the earth, with a short thick cable to the generator enclosure chassis.
