    Regen in different maps?!

Thanks for that info, good to know.

    Regen in different maps?!

Just thought of a couple things... on my Zero, the regen was affected by sprocket choice (lower gearing = more regen, all maps) and also by battery state of charge (in the highest-regen 'Eco' map at 100% charge, it often seemed to have NO regen at all initially, to prevent overcharging)...

    19" front wheel on SM?

Absolutely - you can just send them the SM wheel and they'll return it with the new rim trued and properly offset, plus all the original spokes / rim / etc. They'll probably ask you for preferences regarding rim color / width / brand, and the spoke & nipple material / color / gauge. They can...

    19" front wheel on SM?

I put a 19 x 2.50" Warp 9 rim on my Zero (KTM-pattern) rear hub, I imagine it would be a similar process on your SM. I sent Buchanan's Spoke & Rim 18"-rim OEM sample spokes and they made me thicker stainless ones .50" longer as requested, the wheel came out great. Truing / offset / rim-lock...

    2019 / 2020 wish list

+1. Even just programmable regen alone would be a real improvement. I also like the max-speed limiter, as it seems to 'compress' the entire map into a smaller speed range rather than just cutting off the top end of it.

    2019 / 2020 wish list

This was kind of a tradition at the EMF forum, and since Alta really values owner input it's like one-stop-shopping for them. I did 2 years since the EXR's already in the pipe. My list: Model-specific owner's & parts manuals (online is fine) Modular hot-swap batteries, like the Zero FX (mine...

I really want a better way to get parts!

From Alta's perspective it'll be a whole lot easier to ship parts to a single destination instead of dozens, and compared to ICE bikes the dealer's Alta parts 'chunk' will surely be tiny & probably more of a headache than it's worth (IMO). With a centralized online presence, overall parts sales...

I really want a better way to get parts!

I've had a pretty good experience with Alta parts so far (HVMC has been great!). Several single-item orders took maybe a week each. A recent large parts order (100+ items) took much longer, but that's to be expected as Alta's currently dealing with a big spike in production demand. Maybe AF1...

    Bike measurements

I could roll my MXR through a 50" high door opening, on my knees and brushing my knuckles against the door top. :) You'll definitely want a higher opening than that, unless you let the fork's air out. I rented a Sprinter-type tall van from Enterprise to bring it home, it was great - low lift...

    Tesla Powerwall

Jeez - how disappointing. I assumed from the video I watched that the new-in-box Powerwall arrived via DHL or other carrier, with the buyer choosing to have it installed instead of doing it himself. Given the level of "trust" EV OEM's have in the the technical abilities of end users, now I...

    Feedback on DC-area dealers?

I sincerely hope that's true with Alta, as with the Honda / Suzuki / Yamaha bikes I bought new (no problems with any of them). With Zero it was a very different story, though.

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Your math seems fine, but are you certain these alternators can be paralleled into a single DC load? I couldn't find anything on point at the site FAQ, but I did see mention of an 'alternator excitation harness' which apparently provides on-demand alternator switching (presumably for separate...

    Tesla Powerwall

Maybe! The Tesla app in the video I watched appeared to have bidirectional current flow readouts for everything, including the car charger. I don't want to read too much into that, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Tesla standardized their car & Powerwall charger requirements.

240v female to 110v male adapter

I think it's just a matter of time before Altas can use Tesla Supercharger stations, as the 350V Alta battery voltage is far more 'mainstream' than the 116V Zero pack.

    Tesla Powerwall

Well, I'm already on record about this device... About an hour ago I watched a video of one being installed & used in a home in England, it's amazing all the features it has. It also has that '2001, a Space Odyssey' monolith vibe I really like. :) Powering an Alta fast charger on 240V is...

Alta Dictionary -- Acronyms and Technical Terms

It would depend on the DC components & systems being powered. +/-12VDC & +/-5VDC would be pretty common, with possibly higher voltages in military/police or other special applications.

Coolant pump running while charging, why?

Probably nothing... but if the ACM contains or activates the low-voltage DC-DC converter for the electronics and powers on with the main contactor, it's possible everything the ACM controls (pump, etc.) fires up too. A simple electronics/harness block diagram would be a nice reference item to...

Ty Tremaine and Lyndon Poskitt to race in the Erzberg Rodeo

According to a Dunlop guy I talked to, ST tires generally use harder compounds than intermediates, with the HT tires sometimes using very soft rubber (I felt one at a show that was slightly sticky). I go thru 2-3 ST sets a year, and I find ST knobs tend to stay flatter and sharper-edged as they...
