240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

No apologies needed, we’re all learning. When my battery failed last year and Alta sent a rep to my house to replace it, neither of us had ever done the swap before. The tech was a new hire, and we had it done in 15 minutes easily. Moreso because we were both curious of things we hadnt seen...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

    Yes, think “tractor map”.

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Im not convinced an extra will ever be available for purchase. Lets face it, the Alta is a higher end bike, and several of us have looked into spending thousands on generators, powerwalls, and every other conceivable charging system we can think up. The fact the plug isnt rated for multiple...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

My KTM has a traction control option on the handlebars, and at first I was sceptical, but when wet and slippery it does work. But its not a true TC system with a wheel sensor, it senses rapid RPM spikes, and limits power based on that data. I would think a similar sensor is already on our Altas...

    Supermoto 17" wheels for EX(R) ?

My first thought is youre never gonna get an SM brake setup to be plug and play. I also vaguely recall reading Warp9 is allowed by Alta to sell wheels/hubs independently, but not positive.

    Mammoth MX Race Report

I keep thinking about Hondas 150R, thats been out for 11 years now, when the topic of the big 6s influence comes up. That bike was intended for the 85 class, and still isnt AMA legal there, only in Supermini its eligible, and a few local exceptions. Based on that, the Alta may never become...

    Rant: Motocross Action is Boring

A friend of mine who is a well known bike builder, has told me every bike he has ever sent to MXA for testing, he has had to beg to get returned. To the point of several months of calls and emails, and when they did get returned they were absolutely roached. I witnessed one that was Craigslist...

    interesting tactic to reduce drag..

Im no engineer, but seems the torque of our Altas would round that sprocket off in a few hours?

    Fast charger purchase

Looking around the Alta online shop, I dont see the fast charger available for purchase, I think some of you still have them backordered, but is this a dealer only purchase? And just to verify, it does work on my 17 MX right?

    At the Tipping Point

My thought train is the money not spent on EXR could be used to purchase a second standard charger and kept at work. For a few hundred bucks, I’d do that before lugging one along. But a couple round trips would determine if you even need to charge. Or the charger could be brought back and forth...

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

Still seems the best solution to all of our desires is an extra battery. Even if said battery was $3,500, its still a cheaper solution than most charging options aside from 120lb noisy generators. But that brings us back to the plug not rated for repeated cycles, and unavaiability.

    At the Tipping Point

I say you should be on your way to the dealer already. If the TW has worked ok for you, then I assume youre not a wide open type rider and you should get the desired 2-3 hour ride time from it. I also think since the property is close to home, you know how to cut the ride short if need be, and...

Whoa that would be awesome if it would work on a van.

    The Alta Factory LHRB

Sorry I didnt realise you have the LHRB. I also dont onow if my dual activation setup is going to be powerful enough, maybe getting a bit ahead of myself.

    The Alta Factory LHRB

I suppose it would be. Ive since built an XR100/CR85 conversion with aftermarket head, stroker crank, and uses a KLX140 piston. One of our series is called thumper class, the only rules are aircooled and under 160cc. Its all adults, and the funnest events of the year.

    The Alta Factory LHRB

I also had a JuniorX, and it was a great play bike, but not a race bike. When we built it I thought it was gonna be the ultimate secret weapon for woods racing. Small chassis, light weight, estart, easy to throw around for 2 hours. I failed to factor in the distance from sitting to standing of...
