Potential new owner - 2 bikes here in the UK

According to Alta Redshift VIN Database and MX/MXR Firmware these both bikes have the latest MXR firmware version Redshift_MX_1_5_1_RC1.zip So, the one with 100 miles on it is almost definitely good. And the other brand new one has an exactly 99% chance of being good as well.

I would find out how much it would cost you to ship bikes from the US. You can still buy new ones here in the US for $10-12K. I doubt that shipping two bikes to the UK would cost you $7,200, would it? Although I don't know about your 20% VAT and such.

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

So, perhaps, not lowering but raising the CG on the Alta would make it better for some tracks... This is also the reason why I feel like I always have to either pull or push on the handlebars when riding an Alta.

You don't need to ride them outside. If they power up and move inside the garage then they are fine.

Once you turn the key, if the display is on but there is no yellow light and an fault code or error message, then there are no fault codes. Have you learned the VINs? You only need to learn the last three digits on both bikes. Also, did you say they were they bough in December? They may or...

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

Wow, thanks, Dale! This all makes sense now. I remember test riding a RMZ450, an Husky 350, and especially a 150SX on the same day and track as my Redshift. The RM and especially the SX felt way taller and way shorter than the Alta. I felt like I was going to wheelie or go over the handlebars...

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

@Judaslefourbe , @Tuner -- Any insight as to why Altas tent to teeter-totter when skimming the whoops instead of flowing straight? I have experienced this on every Alta suspension that I owned, and I've also seen it when Josh Hill beat RC. I thought he was going to get stuck in those whoops.

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

Do you mean that the accelerating ICE flywheel creates a moment that loads up the rear end and calms it down, whereas an electric motor doesn't do that?

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

Could you please elaborate about this? I heard Derek say that the Redshift's suspension should be setup differently because of the different power delivery, but he never said how differently exactly and why. I have my guesses and theories, but I would like to hear the official version.

    Honda CR-E vs. Alta Redshift

They definitely benchmarked an early MXR, including the defective rear shock!

    Alta Accessories?

I have had two MCR revalves over many years on my 1995 CR250. They worked very well for me. Last time I had to pick my own springs though because their recommendations were a bit soft. I must have become faster and heavier, LOL. Alta is weird though. It is much heavier than the KTM and has...

Oh, you should revalve your suspension then too. Especially if your shock's part number ends with a "1". KTM World and/or N2Dirt can do it very well.

    Alta Accessories?

I have a Fasst Company rear brake return spring, a DIY LHRB kit (there is a sticky thread in the Brakes/Tires sub-forum with part numbers). I also have an O-ring chain with a 45-tooth rear sprocket and the stock front, but you can go up to 14-tooth front to make Map 4 more usable. The shain is 2...

    Alta Accessories?

The plastics is sold periodically on this forum, usually in the Classifieds section, by owners who have stocked up but later decided to sell their bikes. I would call @AltaWest too, they might have what you need. What type of customization are you thinking about?
