The flag style handguards can guard your hands from briars and small branches, and as you stated: air! I wouldn't trust them, but some folks are afraid of injuries that can happen in the rare case that your hand or arm gets tangled up in the full wrap style.

Making the battery quick change will not make the bike lighter, unless they make the battery significantly smaller. Right or wrong, Stark does not think a smaller battery setup would be desirable to most people, especially on MX, where the high speeds chows the battery quickly.

All I can say is "I doubt it." There is a Battery management system that should not allow it to be completely depleted. Of course, if something is malfunctioning, then most anything is possible.
