Here, I found a 12V volt to 48 volt DC/DC battery charger for lead acid and lithium batteries. The price is $1,275. I think I have made the right choice to stay with 12V. The only drawback so far has been the 4/0 AWG wires between the batteries and the inverter.

No problems. Some like more traction in the rear, some do not. I have no problems doing brake slides or power slides on the Alta with this rear tire.

Maybe the generator is not powerful enough today? The charger would shut off if the generator is overloaded. You need 240V x 16A = 3,840W running power. Your 3,200W generator is probably rated at 2,800W running, or less.

Nice! It is 48V, right? Are there some inexpensive 12-48 DC-DC chargers on the market that I could use to charge it from the truck's alternator, if I have to?

I am running Dunlop MX12 in 110x19. It is an all-around tire for the sand and soft dirt tracks around here. I installed a smaller sprocket and effectively made the chain two links longer than stock so that I could run the rear tire 5/8" farther back and not rub the "airbox" as much.

I think Judaslefourbe would really love to update us, but he values his job more.

I wonder if some geeky owner, like @Mark911 , could duct tape a bunch of 18650 batteries together and wire them in parallel with the stock battery, without the controller noticing?
