Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

I am inclined to believe the dyno that I used. It reported HP numbers that are close to the advertised ones. Wish I still had my Husky TC250 and a Yamaha YZ450F. Those would have been interesting add-ons to this data. But regardless, both the measured and the advertised numbers seem accurate...

    The Alta Factory LHRB

Awesome! Thank you. We are getting to the bottom of it! Now, wouldn't it be nice if the stock KTM clutch hose was long enough to reach the brake master cylinder!

    The Alta Factory LHRB

And... the 9mm Brembo clutch master cylinder KTM application and part number is... ???

    The Alta Factory LHRB

OOPS! I also meant to ask for a KTM part number, in case you know it. It should be an 11-digit number similar to 54802030144. A KTM application could work too. The Brembo part number does not come up in Google.

Re-springing a 2017 Alta Redshift MX (and then revalving too)

Then do it, revalve it. It is not too harsh, it merely becomes like all other MX bikes.

    The Alta Factory LHRB

The Alta's kit is not overpriced, if you want to remove the rear brake pedal. But it is overpriced if you want to keep it. Yes, we need that Brembo 9mm master cylinder part number. I wonder if @Judaslefourbe would be so kind as to look up that Brembo part number for us. Please?

If you do not jump, or hammer the whoops, then the chances are that you would like it less. I would then leave the suspension alone.

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

I found some 2018 250cc dyno data. It bothers me that different dynos report such different numbers! And two of these dynos are DynoJets. Dirt Bike Magazine 2018 250cc on the dyno: https://dirtbikemagazine.com/friday-wrap-up-250-mx-bikes-on-the-dyno Dirt Rider Magazine 2018 250cc on the dyno...

    Hare Scramble

There is a weekly "Iron Man" 1-hour hare scramble-type race at one of the tracks in the northern Ohio. Once a month though, it is 1.5 hours long. A friend with an MXR entered and rode it in Map 1 for an hour and 15 minutes. I should try it too, but not when it is 1.5 hours long. They also have a...

Factory developed Redshift MX suspension shim stack specs (UPDATED)

I realized that not many people have read my long Re-springing a 2017 Alta Redshift MX (and then revalving too) thread. In case you missed it, Alta's factory MX team has developed updated suspension specs for the MX model. They shared it with me, and they said it was okay to share it with other...

Only torque (at the rear wheel, to be technically correct) changes with different gearing. The HP does not change with gearing. Power = Torque * Speed. The torque goes down, the speed goes up, the HP stays the same. What changes is the speed where that max HP occurs.

    Hare Scramble

Yes, we definitely need a bigger map indicator on the display. I can't really slow down and lean in during the race to read it. That one digit is too small. It should be at least as big as the speedometer. BIGGER than the speedometer on the MX and MXR models, who needs a speedometer on these anyway.

Alta Redshift MXR and MX on a Dyno - Riding Maps Demystified

In motocross, at my local tracks, I never exceed 45mph. So...with a 14-tooth front sprocket... In Map 4, I would get the acceleration of the stock Map 3 at low speeds and the acceleration of the stock Map 4 at high speeds. In Map 3, I would get the acceleration of the stock Map 2 at low...
