AER revalve #2 and 'air-to-air' conversion

I got the top-out spring situation squared away on both sides, ending up with the 25mm-shorter fork I wanted: The LH spring & bumper had to be reduced in OD to fit the Race Tech unit's ID, the RH worked fine as-is. Not a trace of topping out now, even with increased air pressure. The LH...

    Front Fork Question

This is one of 2 seals I got recently (price is for 1 seal). I wanted the heavier-duty version for what I'm doing with my AER, but you may want the standard type with perhaps a bit less stiction.

Bike no longer saving log files?

Any chance the laptop & bike file dates don't match up? Maybe if the laptop or its files had incorrect/weird dates, MT might not recognize the bike files as new (just a guess).

    Mileage and Range Expectations

Another thought... my generator enclosure has a 120V 20A convenience outlet for the block heater and charger, maybe that Kohler does too. Looks to me like that facility has plenty of significant electrical add-ons - if there's a maintanance supervisor etc. it might be worthwhile to buy him...

    Mileage and Range Expectations

Excellent! Now all you need is to find an opposite-polarity 120V outlet - hopefully in the same room - and make up a 240V cable. :) Just kidding... 120V is SO much better than nothing.

Sur Ron Storm Bee vs Alta Redshift - my test drive

Wow - priceless info for a prospective buyer, thanks! I've been looking at one for my GF (the size & power are perfect for her), great to know what to expect if I do.

Yeah, I don't miss the Zero experience at all. One dealer was excellent and knew his stuff, the rest varied from sort-of-OK to awful.

Thanks for that idea, Oded - I'll check it when I finally get off my butt and hook up MT. At this point, I honestly think it's the magnets degrading from use. When new, the bike had strong 'cogging' w/key off and was difficult to maneuver uphill into the garage sometimes, hot or cold. Now it...

Cool pic! Is that windblown ice? I really should've gotten an EXR, but I wanted that AER fork for some reason. I don't notice the power thing in map 4 either, just 1 and maybe 2 as well. I'm mainly using map 3 since the last Ohlins revalve, the rear suspension works so much better without...

Congrats! I went past 5K this morning, wouldn't have noticed except for your post. Btw... do you notice any change in motor power? I used to be able to lift the front wheel fairly easily in map 1, but not anymore.

Faults for Water Pump and Low Beam

Yeah, I was mostly kidding, just had to eliminate the conversion thing as a possibility. Seems strange to have a single 'Open or Short' device state, maybe it's that current-range problem some were having w/aftermarket lighting.

Faults for Water Pump and Low Beam

Wow, your MXR has lights, turn signals, and a horn! Mine have none of that. :) Maybe the EXR conversion's been installed, with issues?

Easy WP fork tweaks (all models)

I think this is inevitable trickle-down from the OEM racing programs, but imo it's also a guarantee that gas-station pump air thru an old sandblasting hose won't be used. Filtered / dried compressed air would probably work fine for most temperate-zone non-racers, but tropical or desert riders...

OK, here's a transparent AER LH fork leg: Here's close-up of the negative air chamber, with the top-out spring & the stuff the torch melts :): Here's the entire fork in cross-section: ... and here's the best TCA-spring video I've seen yet - if you watch it all you'll know how to design one...

Easy WP fork tweaks (all models)

Thanks! I like that it's so easy to do. I've been using/loving air-spring-only forks since the 70's. I think I got lucky with my Goki Schrader unit - the epoxy and crossover tube/fittings never leaked at all. The forks got a little stiffer when it was hot out, but not much. Your post...

Easy WP fork tweaks (all models)

Yes and no :) ... initially you want to avoid the chamber-balancing pass-thru slot down near the bottom (which opens around full fork extension) so the new oil can distribute in the top positive chamber - that's why I mentioned compressing the forks slightly before putting the oil in (to push...

Easy WP fork tweaks (all models)

In the ongoing process of converting my AER to simple air pressure (SAP), I realized some of the mods can be done with the fork & caps in place, for very little work or $. Either or both bleeder screws can be replaced with air valves (plus a reducer for the RH valve if used), a small amount of...

What Should I do with My Bad Module?

If it were mine, I'd get out my meter and start reading voltages (p groups, and individual cells if possible), writing all readings down. Then you'll have a much better idea what's going on, and maybe what to do about it.
