Solar wings on an airplane: Scrappy

Damn, the amount of drag those bikes are generating. I guess it doesn't really matter with the relatively slow speeds he's flying, but still. And no doubt, this guy is the man. I wish he was my neighbor, or I had a neighbor like him, Lol.

Are my days numbered? (in Sequim, WA)

I don’t think there’s much off road riding out that way, but I could be wrong. You may be in for long drives to get to decent single track, mountain riding, or an mx track. Tahuya and Capital Forest are probably the 2 closest big orv areas. Grays Harbor has an Mx track and trails, not close...

    Mileage and Range Expectations

Map 1 is too boring for me on tight to open single track. I'm usually in Map 3 nowadays because the snap is fun, used to run Map 2 all the time, but have since settled on 3. I usually do a half days ride, 10-15 miles, usually have at about 1/3 battery remaining. I try to keep up the pace, but...

Busted 4CS preload cap - Compression

Its not just for preventing seal failure, releasing the air pressure insures your forks are working properly, resulting in a more comfortable ride, better handling, etc. Its why the forks have the air pressure relief screws in the first place. Not using the bleeders certainly didn't help in this...

Busted 4CS preload cap - Compression

Once repaired, you may consider bleeding the forks regularly, I have quick bleeders and usually tap them before I head out on a ride, and then during a break mid ride, just depends on how long I'm riding. The quick bleeders are handy, but can be tricky, they are easy to strip out the threads on...

Busted 4CS preload cap - Compression

Bummer about the fork cap. Are you bleeding the forks from time to time while riding?

    AOF Addiction

Another vid of the carnage at the Northeast 24 Hour Challenge. Holy cow. And no more mud races for me (I'm not racing nowadays, but if I was...Lol). Skip to the 7:00 min or so mark if you're impatient.

Thoughts on a great Alta stand/lift?

I had that exact Tusk stand and while I liked the adjustability, it was a bit wobbly. I gave it to Danny down the street as I had a couple stands already, and he had none. He was psyched to get it. :)

    AOF Addiction

I saw a similar pic of that section of the course with the rushing water and trapped bike. Scary. Definitely not a safe crossing at that point. Good idea to call it, but a bummer for all involved. And good job on the race with those crazy conditions.

    Stock Triple Clamp Woes

I used '14 KTM 500 triples. I believe other KTM years/models will work. More info from my conversion detailed here: 2018 MXR Mods The parts involved in my KTM triple clamp swap are all '14 KTM 500 EXC parts: KTM triple clamps (including stem). - 20 mm offset (Alta stock is 22 mm, can be set...

    The Storm Bee is out!

Maybe watch the video then, might give you some insight to what they have to say. He does mention the Alta is heavy, doesn't mention the Storm Bee is heavy. Doesn't bash the Alta, doesn't even compare them. Mentions the Storm Bee is his favorite between the 3 e-dirt bikes, that's as close to a...

    The Storm Bee is out!

Ebikezilla in Quebec has the Storm Bee listed, but not in stock yet, for USD $7,399.99. https://ebikezilla.com/en/sur-ron-storm-bee/13000-electric-motocross-sur-ron-storm-bee-off-road-sr-003-mx-sur-ron.html?SubmitCurrency=1&id_currency=2 Interesting that there is no Storm Bee info is coming...

    The Storm Bee is out!

The Altas are heavy, they're porkers, so what's the problem? That he didn't also call the Storm Bee heavy? Ok, big deal. He mentions some negatives of the Storm Bee, doesn't like the seat, bars were too high. I don't understand all the cry babying about these reviews. I'm interested in...

    The Storm Bee is out!

Agreed. Easily dealt with by some type of guard though. Not a show stopper for me if I was shopping for one.

    The Storm Bee is out!

So David Knight and Geoff Ballard are being paid to provide positive reviews of the Storm Bee? Seriously? Is it possible they actually like the bike? The riding vids look legit to me. The bikes are doing what dirt bikes do. For the skeptics, what in the vids is not legit?

    The Storm Bee is out!

Interesting. And I’ve never heard of him, guess I was living under a (Aussie) rock: 12 ISDE medals, 3 US national offroad titles, I think he knows what he’s talking about. Interesting that both he and David Knight really like the Storm Bee. Ballard's Offroad Race Team & History | MXstore

When will one of the majors bring an E-bike to the market

California is already very strict about monitoring what people are riding off-road in CA, lots of rangers and patrols, heavy fines for riding illegal bikes. I don’t see people bringing non-compliant bikes into CA. CA already has their hated red sticker/green sticker off-road bikes system which...

When will one of the majors bring an E-bike to the market

Exactly. KTM and the FIM are already setting the stage for this. At the Supercross races, the minis are now on KTM SX-E-5 electrics, and they added an even younger class for the ankle biters on the Stacyc electric balance bikes. The Stacyc races are hilarious, giant kid heads bobbing all over...

When will one of the majors bring an E-bike to the market

I bought my MXR a couple of years ago because for me life is too short to wait around for something that may or may not happen. I decided if I bought the Alta and one of the majors dropped an Alta killer and the value of my Alta plummeted that I would be ok with that. Just like when I've...

Bad Bug with a Bad Bike

Gotta beef up those wheelie bars a bit, Lol. I've been fantasizing about an EV West Baja Bug conversion lately. Expensive and completely impractical, but so much fun. Hadn't considered that I could haul the Alta with one.
