My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

It came out a little higher than I anticipated. About $500 for labor, $100 for parts, 100 for shopping, and I also bought an Xtrig rear spring adjuster and SKF green seals. I keep the steering stem nut tight, which is the biggest thing that helps with the front stability. I increased the...

My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

A suspension dyno, if they know how to use it, is indeed a big deal. But I am laughing at how they pitch and upsell their WP vacuum bleeder in their videos and conversations. They obviously know what they are doing, as I just confirmed, and they are offering a money back guarantee, but saying...

    Help with my road trip

I have sent you a PM with the details and my phone number. It would be great to meet another Alta owner. Perhaps convert your friend and girlfriend while at it, LOL!

    Help with my road trip

Sweet! I love road trips. I will be in Lake Havasu City starting Feb 8. You are welcomed to stop at my place overnight, or over several nights. I have Feb 9-11 off, I can show you my local trails. You can join me at a motocross practice on Feb 9th and 10th.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will try to miss this tourist attraction if I go to ride in Utah, LOL!

    Help with my road trip

Nice! When will you be in Arizona? I hope I am there at that time, we could ride together. Either way, you should visit the Glamis sand dunes! Although maybe there are some sand dunes in Utah too, you should talk to @schwankl and @snydes. Which bike will you be on? I am pretty sure you will...

    Front hub mod

Perhaps those who do not want KTM fenders or wheels could upgrade their triple clams to MXR/EXR clamps.

Alta Reshift MXR at 928MX in Lake Havasu City, AZ

I got used to the rocks, although it took a while. Now I am only trying to avoid the larger rocks, and those in turns.

Alta Reshift MXR at 928MX in Lake Havasu City, AZ

Yes. For low-speed tracks with a lot of available traction the stock gearing would of course be better. With the stock gearing, grabbing a handful of throttle at low speeds is a equivalent of revving up an IC engine and dumping the clutch. If the track requires such explosive power, then yes...

Alta Reshift MXR at 928MX in Lake Havasu City, AZ

12/45 Funny, I have only been running Map 2 at this track. If I use Map 4 then I have to manage the rear traction more and watch not to overjump half of these jumps. Sometimes carrying the momentum and keeping it wide open is easier, faster and more fun.

Definitely in April, but it could be much sooner. I am working on this.

I need to try a chin mount or a chest protector mount for my GoPro. The under-the-visor mount makes it look like the track is as flat as Iowa. Also, need to review my resolution.

My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

Not sure how this could help you or your suspension guy. My setup sheet is meaningless if used on a different suspension. Your EXR has a different fork, but even if you had an MXR, you would still have to ship your suspension to KTM World.

My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

Here is my setup sheet. Ignore the 66 N/mm spring rate, they are crazy. My current sag is 90mm. And this is an MXR, not an MX.

My quest for a perfect Alta Redshift motocross suspension (Part 1)

The gist of this post is that I just installed and tested an MXR suspension revalved by KTM World in Georgia, tested it twice this weekend, and it is now my most favorite Alta suspension by a large margin. I am very happy! :ricky: If you want to know more details, keep reading. I am not a noob...

Can you adjust the steering head angle and offset

Swap it, it will become more stable. Let us know how it feels. I have been over-tightening the steering stem nut as a poor man's steering stabilizer. This helps a lot in eliminating the headshake and being able to ride more relaxed.
