Withdrawn Want to buy an MXR - new or used - Midwest or Southwest

Withdrawing this posting. Opening another: Want to buy an MXR - used for $8,000 or less - Midwest or Southwest ----------- I already have one MXR. Now looking to buy a second. I will be between the Midwest and Southwest this winter, so MI, AZ, CA and nearby states are all within my driving...

    BAD NEWS

I bought one of those Fasst Company's Flexx Hanglebars a few months ago. The Alta can feel a bit heavy on choppy and on sand tracks, so I thought a flexible bar could help. I have not installed it yet. I wanted to make sure that the forks work well before I start messing with the handlebars...

    BAD NEWS

We do not have any answers yet, only lots of questions. Once we have something that is worth reading, then we surely can move it into a new section. For now please create new threads in General Discussion, if no other existing sub-forum fits. Threads can always be rearranged later.

    Dal Soggio for 4CS?

@gprix1 is running those Dal Soggio spheres. He likes them: Ohlins steering damper fits nicely

    Dal Soggio for 4CS?

I considered Del Saggio but decided not to bother. They are expensive. They are valved for popular KTM and other models, so they will need to be re-valved for the Alta. You do not know what you are getting until you have tried them on your own bike. You might have to send them back a few times...

    BAD NEWS

I am secretly hoping that those who bought the 2017 models will receive $4,500 checks in the main soon.

    Accessories available at MotoMinded

That is a generic switch. It should be available for purchase in many places, I just do not know which ones. Digikey maybe??

    Code 36 service required???

I swore the MXR was no different power-wise, at least in Maps 1, 2 and 3. Map 4 is unusable on low-medium speed tracks with the stock gearing, so I had not used it much until I geared my bike up. The dyno testing confirmed this. It also explained why gearing up makes the bike better for all...

    Code 36 service required???

I asked Alta if it was possible to just buy an R battery for my MX, and they said that I would also have to buy a new harness because the current one might get fried. They also recommended against it, said it would be too expensive, but maybe it was just because they did not want to deal with...

    BAD NEWS

Sign me up! I did Marc about this earlier this year, and he said that they were not taking in investors at that time. It is much different now though. But, even as part of an investor's group, you might still have to be an "accredited investor" with the FTC, I think. Is it still true incase on...

    Anyone running Kreft suspension?

On a familiar track I have won the B-class a few times. On a new track I would be a podium C. I do not learn new tracks quickly.

    Shock lower bolt?

    Lift the rear wheel perhaps?

    Metal clunk noise from suspension

I bothered me a little, but I considered it to part of the whole undersprung and underdamped package, which I was going to change anyway. You've been riding your EX for about a year already, and just noticed it? If so, I would just just ignore it. The fork should not come apart, I think...

    Metal clunk noise from suspension

Yes, the stock 4CS has not enough damping and it clunks on both the EX and MX. Revalve it to increase the damping and it will be good. You may also want to try using the clickers to see if they would partially help.

POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?

My "17 MX and '18 MXR have been very reliable. I did not even need to update the firmware, other than one time after the purchase of a fast charger.

    Anyone running Kreft suspension?

    Please rephrase the question.

POLL - Would you keep your Redshift...

I've created another, related poll. It should show how reliable our bikes are, and how likely they are to become immovable objects. POLL - Have you had problems that required support from Alta Motors?
