    Owner's Review 10 minute review

For slow riding with no wheel spin or traction control algorithms kicking in -- yes, I think so.

If you use the same energy on acceleration, wind resistance, wheel spin, you will use the same battery capacity regardless of the map.

Body style changes with custom plastics / tins

I am not very familiar with any classic scrambles, if there were any. Are you going for an old-school off-road adventure look? In this case, which of the bike's features would define it as such? Steel front and rear fenders, low sweeping handlebars, perhaps a low exhaust pipe that goes up in the...

    Owner's Review 10 minute review

I am actually glad that all the way up is 4 and all the way down is 1. That small map indicator is impossible to see when not on smooth asphalt. I do not want to switch or accidentally bump the map switch buttons and be in Map 1 instead of 4, or 4 instead of 1. It is a safety and error-proofing...

Considering changing to KTM triple clamps.

The brake rotor is 7mm more to the outside the clear the Supermoto wheels and larger calipers. It was simpler for Alta to keep all the same wheel hubs, wheel axles and triple clamps, I guess.

Warnings on dashboard on new MXR

Imagine this: You have the best dirt bike in the world right now, and then a dealer in your town a few months later. Isn't this so much better than any other option? ;) About one year ago Alta had just 3 dealers, all of them in California. Now there are several in almost every state. They keep...

    Red spring for the Red-shift

Ha! I have heard about these for cars, but for some reason I never thought they would be good for bikes too. Cool! Who sells them?

    2019 / 2020 wish list

Ability to charge from 110V 30A.

    2019 / 2020 wish list

I would like concaved (not convexed) shrouds. Make them compatible with older models. A higher ground clearance and higher footpegs. Altas drag foot pegs in the ruts where all other bikes glide freely. Also, it will be safer for the feet. User customizable maps, of course. Hot swappable...

Red Bull Rocks and Logs 2018

What? When did this happen? Is the new Alta's marketing strategy to keep things on the down-low and not build up the anticipation before good results start coming in?

Replacement Plastic for Alta Redshift Models

The '14 EXC KTMs that came with 4CS forks should have the same fork guards. You might have to buy a black graphics kit if you want to make your whole bike black.

Replacement Plastic for Alta Redshift Models

Yes. All the Redshift plastic ever made and sold to the public so far is either the same or interchangeable.

    Mammoth MX Race Report

@Fog 25 -- You are famous once again today. MXA just sent their Mammoth race report: https://motocrossactionmag.com/mammoth-mountain-motocross-vet-weekend-photo-gallery You are there about half-way down: Steve Rawson raced an Alta electric bike to third in the Over-60 Experts by being a...

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

If you, off-road guys, haven't tried the Tube Saddle setup, you really should. You can run it as low as the Tubliss, both front and rear, but you are not risking dinging up the rims. The thick foam protests the rims much better than the 100psi skinny bicycle tube. On a second though, I have a...

    Rant: Motocross Action is Boring

If he hasn't ridden an Alta himself yet, then he wouldn't be able to write a good article. A local Alta owner or Alta dealer needs to bring him a bike to try out.

240V Inverter in a Van or Truck

It is a quick 5-minute job when two factory mechanics do it. But I do not think any single racer would be able to do it alone by himself between motos, two-three times per week. I really hope the next generation of the Redshift would make the battery swapping either easy or unnecessary.

Owner's Review Review after 500 miles on my MXR

The Alta knows its rear wheel's RPM, which is always proportional to the engine's RPM. It also has a built-in tri-axial accelerometer and gyro built in. This is all that you really need for traction control. From here on it is just programming and tuning. I am sure they have some early and crude...

    Mammoth MX Race Report

Nah. Unlike the case with odd displacement gas bikes, with electric MX bikes the question is not IF but WHEN. When a quarter of the field becomes electric, then the AMA will start to worry about their outdated rules. Until then I am okay with racing vet and open classes. I haven't raced two...

    Mammoth MX Race Report

This is a typical first impression on these bikes. The rear wheel sounds like you have a flat. This does not correspond to the rear end wiggling side-to-side though, what you felt in the corners must have been the dangling outside knobbies.
