A low ground clearance is something that Alta has not fixed with the MXR. I try to gas the bike before landing and never land on both wheels. Do not like jumping big jumps on this bike. A skid/glide plate may not help, the footpeg mounts dig in first. A new subframe with higher mounted footpegs...

I've never heard about insurance for dirt bikes. Michigan only worries about endangered birds and bugs. If a few hikers get run over every now and them -- no big deal, humans are not endangered.

IMO, most of the enduro guys are still on the fence, waiting for the riding range to increase.

I prefer more regen braking as well, both trail riding and MX. On the MX Maps 1 and 2 have the most of regen braking, Maps 3 and 4 have the least. I think it is the same on the MXR.

Welcome, Ted! Alta themselves have demo days in NorCal as well. Not sure if just once a year or more often. I attended two, both at the Hollister Hills SVRA. Make sure to sign up on their website for a demo, and they will contact you, or your local dealer will.

I remember it is 6 lb, of which 3 lb comes from the fork and 3 lb from somewhere else on the bike, not sure where. Alta claims that the MXR has 20% of all-new parts.
