In 2026 there will be an electric class in the World MX Championship

Interesting calculation, the fact is that a pro rider finished all 30 min races (25 + 2 laps) in MX Elite 2025 championship with his 7.2 kWh battery. So he did use under 14.4 kW average power at every race of every round (6 rounds, 12 races total). He even provided some details about range for...

In 2026 there will be an electric class in the World MX Championship

Fun fact, Stark rider in MX Elite 2025, was France vintage sand races champion in 2024, and he still rides his CR500 in the sand 😁 https://www.instagram.com/p/C3DuZm7tIyS/?igsh=MTN2bjQzb3MzbW1icQ==

True, they don't often feature sand tracks in MX Elite, they didn't for this year, they had some mudders but it's not the same. Sometimes they do though, after all, we have famous sand races like Le Touquet. MX Élite 2022 at Lons MX Élite 2024 at Bitche (you read that right)

In 2026 there will be an electric class in the World MX Championship

MX Elite is 25 min + 2 laps, Herbreteau finished all races and finished 6th in the championship, not too bad for their first try. 5 min more for AMA Pro MX might be stretching it a bit but they should start by racing SX anyway 😉

In 2026 there will be an electric class in the World MX Championship

Yes, OEMs seem so amateurish it's ridiculous. OEM supposedly started asking MXGP to have an electric class in 2022 but 3 years later their electric bikes are still nowhere to be seen (except CR-E proto that has been around for 8 years without any specs nor production foreseen) so the class is...

Flux Performance - eMX startup from Europe

Interesting interview from Flux CTO https://fluxmoto.co/meet_cesar/ Here's an excerpt: "Another mistake is thinking that a rolling prototype equals a successful product. Many prototypes are impressive, but they’re built in ways that don’t scale: Materials, suppliers, assembly methods. When it...

Energica is being revived but if you count scooters (as in mopeds), China and India have the biggest OEMs.

AMA and Electric Motorcycles in AMA/FIM races

First race with Stark for Friese at Italy's Fastcross and it went better than I expected, he finished 7th, half a second ahead of Zaragoza in 8th and 3 seconds ahead of Hicks in 9th (Kobusch was 11th). That means he adapted quite quickly and there's probably more to come when he gets more races...

That, plus racing against themselves, they wouldn't learn anything from it, and wouldn't get any marketing value either.

General first solid state battery demonstrator motorcycle

I think of it the other way round, making great progress at lab scale but the bottleneck remains scaling up production (output, rate of QC failure, cost).

General first solid state battery demonstrator motorcycle

That's cool to see Ducati keeping on with its electric mobility department, this is much more significant for the industry that the end of MotoE. However, this "solid state" prototype fuss is quite disappointing honestly. They say these cells might become commercial reality in 5 years yet the...

    Stark Future next models

Well, they've said "this year", it's obviously not finalized yet, preorders would probably open at least a couple of months before deliveries, then usual shenanigans for first deliveries delays. I think for the EX it was about 4-5 months between preorders and firsts deliveries? It might be a...

    Stark Future next models

What could SM riders (any street riders) want as extra compared to MX and EX? 2 words: onboard charger. I don't know if there are any full size electric street motorcycle without an onboard charger, it simply does not make any sense to not include this for street riding. (and yes, overheating...
