Blue, thank you for the kind invite. I would love to join in on the fun. And no worries about speed, I'm fast enough for me, and have powered through enough "nasty muddy lost my lights had to resort to my emergency camp headlamp to see where I was going 5 feet at a time, then that burned out, I don't know how many miles I did in the pitch black but I FINISHED my lap at the 24 hr" scenarios to feel comfortable competing.

And I can't remember which race it was out there, but my team won our class, 40+ Amateur (40A). No easy task, lots of older go fast dudes on teams in our class. Turns out we won by outlasting everyone and completing our laps where other teams did not. Turtle vs hare thing.

Unfortunately my health is for crap, I never know when my energy is going drop to where I can't really do anything, so committing to things like this are tricky, would not feel right to commit and then bag out at the last minute as I can never predict how I will be doing at any given time. And not complaining, its all good, just explaining.

And I'm not really into mud races anymore, never know what the weather is going to be like out there, so there is that, Lol.

This mud race out there in 2010 was a bitch!



Flatted the rear about half was through a lap, kept going, finished that lap too. Must have been 5 lbs of mud in my tire by the time I got back to the pits. Ha!



I will be following along though, am excited to see you guys get out there again. If by some miracle my health improves I'll definitely be there, even if its just to come and hang out, man the pits for a bit. We'll see.

And one of these days I'd love to pick you brain on renewable energy, solar mainly, setups. I have a fantasy of building a semi-off grid setup one of these days. -Eddie

That means we have a team, anyone else? We can have up to 6 on a team, but 3 is about the minimum to charge the bikes and keep a someone on the track all the time.

I will hopefully be good to go, but I have yet to even throw a leg over the bike since my crash last May.

A team of 4 is good! Not much margin for error, but we will get lots of ride time for sure.

Well, were getting close to time to be putting our entries in for this year. Are we still on? I haven't seen anything about it being cancelled for this year.

I'm in, I think. It kind of depends on what happens with Covid. Lots of social distancing on the course, but the pits is a different story and not sure about mask in the pit. Would hate to get exposed especially since I am in the 60+ crowd now.

3 riders would be doable and keep a rider out the entire race. Our fastest rider last year was in the 40-45 min per lap and the slowest was about 60 min per lap. This would give about 1 1/2 to 2 hours between laps for charging which would probably work. With just 2 riders we would have to wait for charging between laps, but it is still doable.

I better start working on my light setup. Bought lights and a battery pack after last years race, but haven't used them so don't know if they even work.

Race is still on and it is 25 hours instead of 24 due to day light savings. Gives us an extra lap or two.
